black dog need 4 jabs??
hi,

have you guys heard of this before?? when I went for the 2nd jabs, the vet said that my pup need 4 jabs instead of 3 jabs.. because she's(my pup) black??

I'm going to take her for the 3rd jabs on 7th Dec 2007.

the 2nd jabs given is 7 in 1.

dog's breed: black labrador.

age: 13 weeks old now.

her first jabs was given when she's 6 weeks old by the breeder. She came to me when she's 7 weeks old.

I'm new to all these, hope that you guys can give me some info about this. Thanks..

Huh? Need for jabs? Where got such thing... No dogs in this world get four vaccinations. That's like over doing it already... No need lah. This vet just wants to make money or what? After having her/his 3rd jab, stop. They got this such thing called booster but many people say that there's no need for it. I think this is what the doctor must be referring to... Booster is the same. My dogs don't get any booster. They just had 3 vaccins & that was it.

Billion just gone for her 3rd jab.. and now only I found out that the 4th jab is actually the "heart worm" jab.. so, I will take her for the heart worm vaccination next month... by the way, may I know how much should we pay for the heart worm vaccination?

Heartworm at this age vets would recommend taking the monthly one till it's 1 yr and above due to the weight changing as he's growing. Or if you want can give him the half yearly one. For small dogs yearly is about RM80 big ones can go up till rm150 yearly. Varies from vet to vet. Actually can do the heartworm together with the 3rd vaccine.

Heartworm prevention thru jab? My boy is taking a tablet (not really tablet form, a square size 'thing) monthly. He likes to eat a lot Laugh'

ok, thanks for the advices.. Then, I can just buy the Pro Heart from the vet and let Billion has it instead of getting the jab..

if the vet doesn't want me to give her Pro Heart now, I think I will go for another vet then. . Laugh

Ooooh... Aiyoh, why that doctor never said so. I'm not sure. You can ask him. The heart worm jab is very important to prevent your Billion having worms in her heart. The worms come from mosquitoes & it usually takes about 6months for the eggs to hatch & become worms.

I don't know.. this vet (according to the breeder) is very experience vet. But, cause of her experience, she won't explain anything to the customer(like me).. sigh.. and I'm new to take dog to for vaccination and all that.. so, I don't know what to ask the vet.. Pirate then, after coming back, read through this forum and get advices, then find out that I should ask her what what what.. sigh...Unsure so, I'm always one step behind.. Crazy

But, if the heart guard jab should take after the dog become adult (won't grow any more).. then, now Billion (only 15 weeks old) shouldn't take this jab right?? I don't know whether I should go back to this vet or change to another one..

anyone know any good vet from Ipoh?? please let me know... thank you..

Whatever your dog's age is, your dog needs the heart worm jab. For the heart guard pills, the dog must take it every month without fail. No need to change vet lah. But it's entirely up to you ofcourse, if you can find another good vet in Ipoh.

oh.. ok, so have to take the jab and pill later...

and I went to have a look at Amber's blog.. that spa quite nice though.. but, I think Billion is still too young for the spa.. ahhaha.. she'll sure drive the ladies there mad if she goes there for spa.. ahahhaa...

by the way, can see Chloe enjoyed the spa very much.. it's really amazing..

Jess, this is your boy's recent look?? he has grown up a lot !!! compare to the previous photo..

Mickey, yeah he's a big boy now! I had post some of his recent photos in me & my dog section:

My dad keep asking me not to feed him too much as he really grow very large now. But I think he should b in this size for his age. I'm ok for his size but quite worried whether he's overweight or not.

Jab and pill is the same wan.. If give pill no need give heartworm jab le. However yearly vaccines is a must.. Tomorrow i explain more when i finish my table for vaccinations..

Your dog did blood test mah & did not take the jab. If did not take the jab, then can take the pills. Actually both the jab & the pills are the same. It's up to you which one you want to give but both, your dog must have every month without fail.

Actually it would be advisable to vacc your dog the 4th time if he/she is a large breed black and tan dog.
