How to prevent my shi tzu from eating poo

Hi,

I'm getting very upset with my shi tzu, Kiko Frown

I tried to put tobasco and chili padi in her poo to stop her from eating her poo but yet she still eat. I really don't know what to do anymore

Is she having indigestion problem? Can anyone give me some advice please.... im so sad so sad

Kiko oredi took her 3rd jab oredi, i did ask the vet about it. She said its like tat one lah.... u gotta watch her lor, that is the only answer she gave me!

ha? like dat wan ah the vet....hmmm...i hv no idea at all oso...hv to surf the net to hv more info...coz so far for sze ern, we monitor lo..coz during the day, i hv ppl at home oso to take care of my girls...so not really a prob lo...

Thk you so much for your reply, i just only call the other vet and ask. They said got tablet to prevent dog from eating their poo, in the forum also said it might be a habit, which i hope is not or maybe indigestion or hungry...

I felt so regret for hitting kiko this morning and some more didnt hug her before i went off to work. cant wait to go back and say sorry. Poor kiko she is only a puppy....

This sunday ill go to vet and ask for the tablet or ask for other solution as well.

why u hit her? because u saw her eating the poo? yeah..sometimes under such circumstances, we can get very geram.....i am like dat too...so once a blue moon i'l get very angry and spank sasha too..but ended up, i think i am more heartache than her....so nowadays i'l just scold and ignored her instead of hiting her...i think this works better than hitting..

I have to choose to beat her instead of ignoring her. If i ignore her nobody will sayang her anymore coz im oredi working from mon - sat full day then come back ignore her somemore she will go crazy.... hahahaha

Can you lend me yr mum ar....

I was so angry seeing her eating poo, tats why i hit her, scold her and also ignore her the whole time before i went to work. But even i hit her she still keep following me.... when i about to raise my hand she will run away...

try not to hit her with ur hand..if not, the next time you raise your hand to sayang her, she will tot that u wan to hit her and she will run away..

well..actually by ignoring, u don hv to ignore her for long..coz furkids are very forgetful. so u may only scold and ignore her at the point she is eating the poo. let her know u dislike the behaviour...if she stops (even for awhile only), quickly praise her and reward her with some other thgs...

if u ignore her for 1/2 hour, she won even remember that u r angry because of her eating poo...she might tot that u r angry with her with whatever she's doing 1/2 hour later...

hehehehee...yalo...i think i am lucky d...coz got my mum to take care of them when i am away...at least they don feel lonely oso lo..

When i sayang her tat time, she will bite my hand sometimes maybe she said its times for revenge...and sometimes she will lick my hand...but i couldnt think of somethings else that i could use to hit her. Last time got try to use the roll up paper, she refuse to pee on the newspaper after tat. I think with a firm NO and a light pat on her cheek will do...

U mean puppy is forgetful? When they grow up, will they still be forgetful?

use luke warm water la fren, i dunno abt ur place but everynite in pg its rainin. & the breeze is makin me feel chilly not to mention puppies

ill dry her up immediately after the shower. Actually my bf always use warm water to bath her but some said bath her with cold water is better. If Kiko sneeze, is that means she is chilly?

luke warm against normal temp water??? i singled em out this way, if i bathe zeus in afternoon whr its hot i'l use normal temp water, if it nite time i'l use luke warm

if she sneezes after bath either uve got water running thru her nose earlier durin bath (always keep her nose up high) or yes she feelin cold & chilly (also watch if she shivers or trembles)

brought kiko to vet yesterday, regarding the eating poo things. The vet said she might be lack of enzyme so i had to feed her enzyme tablets twice a day... hopefully it helps. I heard there is a 'deter' tablet to treat dogs from eating their poo but yesterday i went to the pet shop, they dont sell that also!

hi, i got a chihuhua that always eat her poo! when I saw she eating and scold her, she salah faham thought I call her don't poo poo there. After feeding my Kiko with the enzyme tablets given by the vet doc, now my kiko dont eat her poo oredi, coz that day when i came home i saw her poo untouch...

yeah.... Finally!!! Hope she will stop eating her poo starting from now!

..... Im glad she stop eating poo and hope she will maintain lor.... The enzymes tablets called BIOTASE, 56 tablets for RM28. Im not sure whether can get it from retail outlet or not cause i got it from the vet.

Last time she will poo 3 to 4 times in a day but now she only poo twice a day, one in the morning and one in the evening.

That day Kiko accidently swallow a rubber band tat i use to tie up her hair in the afternoon, i was so worried and was hoping she will poo it out. In the evening she was playing and scratching underneath the sofa then she swallow a big piece of cotton without me noticing it. And after few hrs later she vomit everything out..... Crazy

I forgot to buy the heartguard tablets and also the deworm tablets. Its so expensive, it cost about RM60 just for two deworm tablets.

And is there a lot of different brand for heartguard and deworm tablets? How much is it? Which brand is better if there is a lot of choices?

well....i bought heartgard plus tablet from the vet too...RM58 (for 6 mths supply)...the brand is Heartgard.

As for the deworm, i brought from vet....so i don know the brand...

the best is get vets to prescribe the de-wormin pills, cuz these pills are prescribe accordin to ur doggie's weight, the heavier the dog the more tablets it will need. usually for small to medium size doggies, the costs for the whole course of de-wormin pills will not exceed RM15. i dunno the price for bigger doggies. as for heartgard the brand is called heartgard, heartgard plus is somethin more advance same manufacturer & brand also but with protection fr more worms compared to heartgard. i didnt get zeus heartgard yet cuz he's under medication for his skin problem at his paws Unsure

My Kiko kibbles finish oredi, all the pet shop in port dickson and seremban dont sell royal canin for mini junior. They only have medium breed junior for 11kg to 20kg puppy. The shop owner say its okay to feed Kiko with that but im a bit worried! So i only buy 1kg of kibbles for Kiko to eat till this coming sunday then ill go PJ buy royal canin mini junior one...

Its all my fault, thought that PD pet shop here are selling my Kiko kibbles as they said mini junior kibble sold out oredi. If order need to wait till next month.

What do u think? Is it ok to feed her with medium breed puppy kibbles for few days?

actually it's fine to feed the medium breed temporary...i think the diff is mainly on the content of the kibbles.

no worries..shouldn;t b a problem...anyway it's only 1kg and will finish very fast...after dat u will switch back to mini d...

so how do u find royal canin? am thinking of switching to royal canin too....

I had a hard time with my rooney, he always poop few times a day...perhaps around once every 3-4 hours..and whenever after he poops, he eats it or plays with it. Im not sure whether is it because of the nutri-cal supplement i mixed it with the dog food i've given him coz he hardly eats nowadays. Unsure

makes me feel quite sad coz he is so thin...and he doesnt eat much unless i mixed it with the supplement. Frown

Im taking him to the vet this sat to get his 2nd jab coz last weekend the vet says not recommended if rooney is not feeling well..she suspect rooney has a limb inside the throat or infection.

Pls advice. had no idea how to make him eat more than usual. and the eating poops problem.

I kind of like royal canin, coz it wont go extremely soft when i soak the kibbles for about 5 mins. For eukanuba it will go very soft and smelly. As my niece also having a male shi tzu called bobo, she said after switch to royal canin bobo fur become more healthy. My other fren said it make their dog bone stronger...

And when i first feed her with Euka, i have to feed her one by one if not she don wan eat. After i switch to Royal, she will jump with joy each time im preparing her food. Luckily she like the medium breed kibble too... maybe is also royal canin so she have no complaint....

So sorry to hear that Rooney is not feeling well... Frown

I think there is two reason why rooney dont want to eat the kibbles, one is bcoz of his throat infection (which i hope is not) and second is he dont like the taste of the kibble given. Maybe you should think of switching to another brand of kibble. Are you feeding Rooney with dry kibble or did you soak the kibble first?

Last time my Kiko also eat her poo almost everyday, the vet said she might be lack of enzyme. So after one week on enzyme medication, she will only poo twice a day and no more eat her poo....Maybe you should check with your vet about the enzymes tablet called Biotase.

Try not to let Rooney out of the hse or play with other doggy coz he havent had his 2nd jab.

oh my....i hope its not the infection....the vet has given me the vitamins and antibiotic for rooney, and its already 5 days, he looks abit more healthy than the first week when i brought him back...

perhaps i might need to consider to change the food coz it seems like he doesnt like the food that much, he will get excited when other people eating their dinner or lunch..but when he looks at his food, he turn away. but the previous owner says all the other pups (i mean the bro and sis of rooney) also eating science plan.

I did separate the kibbles into two part, one soak a bit with water and another is dry. HE is sometimes quite choosy, he will eat abit the softer one..but sometimes eat the dry one. my head also headache lio. Dont know how. Frown

I always soak Kiko kibble eventhough she also like to have it dry. I think Rooney don like his kibble, if possible maybe you can change to other brand... Maybe Rooney is not like their bro and sis, he is like his grandpa or grandma or etc...

Or have u try feeding him one by one...

I gotta feed my Kiko one by one when i first feed her with Euka... now no need lor, she will jump and bark for joy when im soaking her kibble.

No need to headache lah.... just try changing the kibble for Rooney first and Good Luck!!!

My Kiko ar.... eat until extremely fat liow lor, she is now 3kg++ ler and she is only 4 month old and the vet say normally shi tzu weight is between 5 to 7kg!

well...luckily rooney weight 4.12KG compared to last week. The first week on 10th dec, the vet weight him as 3.12KG, then last week his weight oni increase 3.41. Luckily my bf just called me that today his weight is 4.12KG... haha...coz i have to work in office, so my bf brought rooney to the vet. Took the 2nd jab edi, but they dont have the enzymes tablet u mention earlier. Is there anywhere i can find?? The vet i went is the one near seksyen 14 PJ.

i went to look for this during the weekend. the shop near my place sell it separately. i.e they only hv big packets and sell it in portion lo...so not in the original packing. well...actually i don really like to buy if like dat. but my kibbles finishing d..so i bought a bit lo to try out...1kg for Rm15. he said if buy original packing for 3.6kg is quite exp..somethg like Rm50 - Rm60. is it true?

Its good to hear that rooney have already taken his 2nd jab and also gain weight...

I bought the enzyme tablets from Yeoh Veterinary in Taman Megah, PJ. Maybe you can check with the vet in your area how to prevent rooney from eating poo?

According to Dr.Yeoh, dog dont normally eat their poo. They must be lack of something or they are curious about their poo. And the info online said that it might be a habit and etc.

Pls be reminded Yeoh Veterinary is quite pricey but the medicine given are very effective.

As i know there is no packing of 3.6kg. There is only 1kg or 3kg or 4kg and big packet, cant remember the kg for big packing.

I think its kind of hard to find royal canin mini junior in small retailer shop. They only sell for medium junior. Mini Junior is for puppy less than 10kg and also less than 10 or 12 mths. If the retailer repack the kibbles it will be RM10. And pls be reminded the kibbles for mini junior is in triangle shape.

I just bought a 3kg from Ikano, before discount is RM64 after 5% discount is 60.8. Actually i can get 10% discount from the pet family in Tmn megah but since im at the curve so i buy it there lor. There is 1kg packaging also sorry cant remember the price for 1kg, i think should be less than RM30.

Yalor, its easier that way no need to purposely travel so far away just to buy the kibbles. But some retailer shop will help you to order, maybe you can check with the retailer shop nearby your place see whether they can order for you or not.

i tried feedin zeus royal canin when he was 4~5 mths, try a week, he hated it like shit, not to say its not good, its a premium food but zeus dont like it Unsure

u can get it at dogs r'us

tell u my exp on my last event thr,

sat morn drive down to KL, reach around after lunch. got to my relative's place the rest till dinner. not much of a rest though cuz zeus is restless as well as the place is new & they have a min pin that cant run as fast as zeus. then by the time we got back fr dinner it was abt 10pm. so shake here & thr, it was near mid nite when we're ready for bed. the next morn, i woke at 7+am, drove to BU, do all kinda stuffs thr then, it hit me, my gf & zeus were damn tired ade, so i left at abt1pm. went for lunch then straight back to pg... reach home around 4+pm...we were all tired, zeus slept the whole 3+hrs journey home

so if u really wanna drive thr, i would suggest u go home pg on the next day...

I think i know where is the Yeoh Veterinary, it facing right outside the LDP road isnt it? looks like a clinic type. The one i went is at Seksyen 14, opposite the mosque there, it actually look like a pet store but inside the vet also available. Nice young lady vet. Tongue

See if i can drop by there to just buy the enzymes tablet.

did u check with amber-faith??? she provides home boardin, more relaxin compared to pet or vet boardin. then maybe u can stay nearby her place & check on the girls every short while

u have to control kiko from eating more... otherwise end up become fatty kiko liao...

how many times you feed her?

my friends is using royal canin now for her two chow chow dog. so far so good but i doesnt like it due to low protein content. puppy now need more protein in term of growing. otherwise susah. (my opinion and my vet)

I fed Kiko twice a day, 25gram in the morning and another 25gram in the evening. Normally after her meal at night ill give her a few bite of treats while training her.

is it because the food is not fully digested?? i feed rooney also with kibbles earlier, he always play with it and wanan eat it, but i monitor him quite closely. Ever since he start to eat enzymes table (which u can get from the vet) he seldom wanted to get near to his poop lio...but moreover, he move away..and poop lesser...So i believe its because of the digestion problem. how old is your baby prince?? coz if still very very young pup, vet does mention before that maybe the tummy not fully develop yet, thats why will eat own poop coz still got dog food smell wor.. (just a little help) hope u can gather infor a little) Frown

actually is very normal for puppies to eat and play with their puupuu.. cus wat she eats wil come out from her petpet.. so she might find it tasty like her food. so she will eat her puu

another posibility is tat puppies are hungry, so they eat anything edible.

Hello,

I tried tobasco, pepper and also chilies too but she still eating poo!

The vet said she is lacking of enzyme thats why she is eating her poo. After feeding my Kiko with enzyme tablets, she is not longer eating her poo anymore.

Now very happy lor at least each time i reach home i saw her poo on the floor instead of inside her stomach. And she will not play with it anymore....

hi, thanks for the replied.my baby prince is 3 months old, is a mixture,shih tzu+silky terrier nowadays i realize he even lick his pee..sigh! so sad,tat's y i have to monitor him everytime when he wanna poo or pee, i get stress up when i not at home coz i'm afraid that he'll eat his poo or pee again.anyway how much it cost if i bring him to the vet?

Hey, sometimes the dog eats its poo due to boredom. My dog used to do that she would eat her poo, checked around and found out sometimes if not stop early will become a habit. Dog sometimes eat thier poo due to certain protein or mineral they lack in thier system, and for some reason the poo has it??? this I am not so sure la but experts says it *I dun really agree*

I stop my poo eating dog with

1. Being extremely stern with her when she eats her poo

2. Gave her plenty of toys to bite and chew *This I think stop the poo eating, perhaps it tired her mouth hehe*

3. I changed my dog food to higher protein *this was when she was around 2months* how she is 1 year already

So far so good no shit eating..already. Hope this helped. Cool

My poodle used to eat his poop everyday... tats make me headache,i had consulted 2 vet, they said the same thing ... its thier habits..n try put tobasco , salt to make them annoyed.... bt.. still ... he is very smart..he eat it when no1 watching him n he can tell the poop is added any extra flavour or nt... glad to know there is such enzyme.. n i found out that i gt such enzyme at home as well, also named BIOTASE: Enzymatic Digestant, bt its for human la... nt for pets... so is your enzyme tablets packaging also like tat? (Plz review my attached pic) n how long you need to fed KIko the enzyme for him to completely stop the habit? is he stop the habit ald? thanks for the info...
