Re: [josephinegys] wat brand of shampoo?

Hi,

Best is to try the vet, they can recommend you the shampoo & conditioner. I have a Maltese & i only use a normal lavender shampoo on him which was recommended by the vet & i comb & brush his hair everyday.

Re: [josephinegys] wat brand of shampoo?

josephinegys...

my advice is : better dont use human shampoo.. becus the pH is differen. in the end, not nice coat.. might even harsh the dog's skin...

better go buy a proper dog shampo.. and puppy one if ur kid is still a puppy...im using groomer's edge midnight white.. not bad though...

Re: [SupaMolly] wat brand of shampoo?

For everyone info. All my Silkies use human shampoo & conditioner from puppy time till adult. No skin & hair problem, to my surprise my dogs don't even have any ticks & fleas! The result healthy skin with shinny and manageble coat.

To those who are confident on human products & also can afford it. I highly recommended this brand to all Silky and long coated breed dog owners. So far this is the best Shampoo & Conditioner I experience it on my Silkies. My previous experience on human product on all my silkies are Pantene, Sunsilk, Clairo, & Wella.

How much?
Shampoo RM115 - 1 litre
Conditioner RM120 - 1 litre

Where to get it?
http://www.shins.com.my/

Direction guildeline:
Shampoo - Pump 5 time or less in an empty bottle (325ml) mix about 100ml clean water & shake.
Wet your Silky hair & pour the shampoo and massage evenly then rinse well.
Conditioner - Pump 5 time or less in a empty bottle (325ml) mix about 100ml clean water & shake.
Apply the conditioner evenly through hair from the root to end and leave it about 3-5 minute. Rinse thoroughly.
Lastly, towel dry the hair & used a hair dryer to blow dry the hair at the sametime use a pin brush to brush the hair. Always turn the hair dryer to COOL air. You will see how easy you comb the hair without any tangle even the hair is wet! You be amaze!!!
The Shampoo & Conditioner is HIGHLY concentrated.

Good Luck and happy trying!!!

Its up to individual what they believe. Some say human shampoo & conditioner is no good. But my Silkies is my evidence to all dog owners, is proof the product is VERY good for dog hair. Even international top show breeders used human shampoo & conditioner on their dogs.

Regarding about your friend maltese. Did he use conditioner after shampoo? I don;t think so. Alot dog owner less out this very important thing that is 'Conditioner'. Conditioner is very most important for our doggie hair. After shampoo MUST apply conditioner on their hair. It help repait the dry hair at the sametime prevent tangle. That mean less tangle, less breakage & the hair will grow long without split end.

Yes. I bring my silkies out for walk daily, dog shows, & doggie events. They wouldn't get any ticks & fleas. I not sure is because of the human shampoo & conditioner but my silkies never got any ticks & fleas before. I don't use Frontline cause it will dry & damage my Silkies hair.

Some shampoo have less lather. Just follow the instruction I mention about.

Good LuckWink

I think short coated breed like JRT no need use conditioner lor. JRT coat tend to shed & changing coat right. Not like Silky Terrier as this breed their coat shed very little and it grow long like human hair.

wat brand of shampoo?

defnitely chris shampoo. Chris are a range of grooming product imported from US specially for dog showing people. Which is why their products are at the highest quality. They're shampoo, which consist of

clean start - for dogs with broken dried hair. use clean start as a introductory shampoo to heal the coat.

day to day - a very mild natured shampoo that will not cause hair to dry up even if used everyday, unlike other shampoos.

day to day conditioner - to be used after day to day shampoo to condition and moisturise coat.

white on white - contains no bleach whatsoever. especially for white, cream or peach colored dogs. Brings out whiteness. Does not cause coat to dry up like other whitening shampoos

gold on gold - for dogs that are golden, brown or apricot. Brings out color. Does not dry up coat.

black on black - for black dogs to avoid black coat from turning red. does not dry up coat.

thick n thicker - a protein treatment to strenghten hair, thickens hair, and volumizes hair texture.

after bath - neutralizes shampoo residues in coat, n to remove static from coat. ease brushing.

this whole range of shampoo can only be found in house of groomers subang jaya or plaza damas. for more information, please email me

Re: [josephinegys] wat brand of shampoo?

If you really want your dog's fur to be shiny and beautiful, feed it a good oil which contains the omega fatty acids 3, 6. A proven product is solid gold's flax seed oil. If not, just get a good fish oil which u can eat with your dog. Or like me, give timberwolf dry food to the dog, you will see the result in weeks.

I really think your dog lacks of oil, thats why the coat tangled up easily. Try to brush your dog before bathing, if not, the tangles will tighten with water.

Try to stay clear of products with Sodium Lauryl Sulphate, it's a foaming agent that will dry up the skin. Few good brands will be chris , all system number 1 and hansen. Use conditioners too.

Re: [jessicaohh] wat brand of shampoo?

Hi

New here but this subject interests me. I have been trying to figure out if human shampoo is really good for my dog. Cos i have been told many times that the PH level of human shampoo is not suitable for dogs. Also 2 in 1 shampoo is not good for dogs too. Shampoo remove natural nutrients and oil while conditioner replenishes back what is being lost. So how does a 2 in 1 shampoo works?? Any comments?

Hi Chrisong,

Are you showing Silky Terrier? I prefer Yorkshire Terrier though Wink I heard many Silky and Yorky Terrier breeders are using Panthane. For me, i am still searching for the right shampoo for my dog. I own 1 yorky by the way. I did a search on the net and have observed some sites recommending Vellus and Pure Paws. Any feedback on these 2 brands? Is it available in Malaysia?

Love your Silky Terriers!! Smile

What i found from the net,

"It is important to wash your pet with shampoo that was specifically designed for your pet. The use of human shampoo on your pet will hurt your pet’s skin, not help it. The main difference between pet and people shampoo is the pH balance, or measure of how acidic a substance is.

Shampoo designed specifically for humans has a pH balance of 5.5. Pet shampoo has a pH of 7.5. On the pH scale, seven is neutral, while anything below that is more acidic. The more acidic shampoo is both good for humans, and helps to keep our hair healthy. However, this level of acidity is harmful to pets. This can be compared to babies. Parents use shampoo specifically designed for babies because adult shampoos are too harsh for a baby’s soft, delicate head. Likewise, adult human shampoo is too harsh for your pet’s gentle skin and fur.

Pet shampoos are specifically formulated to be gentle on your pet’s skin. These products also help to nourish your pet’s fur to give it a healthy, shiny appearance. Another important reason to use pet specific shampoo is that it moisturizes the skin. Healthy skin will both help prevent your pet from getting skin problems and improve your pet’s overall health...."

It does make sense though Wink

Years of Experiencing the products on your pets is the best evidence whether the products work well or making it worst.

You need to expericing it yourself using human product or pet product on your dog. You will notice the different.

Re: [chewec] wat brand of shampoo?

Hey guys, I own a ACS which I brought back with me when I got back from the US.

Of so many types of shampoo I've tried, I realise the only thing is some brand of shampoo's smell dont get along too well with the doggy smell. Apart of that, everything seems to work pretty fine in giving a perfectly nice and fluffy fur on my ACS. The more expensive ones, smell last a lil longer than the cheaper ones.

I've tried using DOVE on my ACS before when I first got back cos I didnt have the time to get his shampoo from the shop. The result, DOVE made him look like a fluffed up dog like a chowchow. DOVE makes his fur super soft like a TY beanie baby. But the bad side is, washing off the DOVE was a pain cos human shampoo just foams up too much.

I've noticed, whatever shampoo you use, giving ur pets multivit also help with giving it a good coat. My ACS is currently using Clean and Fresh Shampoo and on MultiVit.

Re: wat brand of shampoo?

Previously, my m.schanauzer is having some skin problem, so i used the shampoo that the vet gave... it is in red colour... purpose of it, is to kill the bacteria... after a few time using it, my puppy no longer had skin problem... i also apply the same shampoo to my american cocker... both of my puppy i keep it long hair... after using it, both of them never have a kutu problem and their fur is so damn nice to touch n comb... my american cocker even being chosen for some pets advertisement because of his nice, fluffy fur...

ps: i bath my american cocker 3 times a week because i place them at my car porch (which kinda hot for them because of their long fur) and they LOVE to be bath...

Re: [jay_tan2004] wat brand of shampoo?

A critical property of "2 in 1" shampoos is their ability to deliver a desired amount of conditioning agents to the hair surface (aka conditioner). Against the argument of some shampoos manufacturer that 2 in 1 shampoo is not good and non effective, while, the ability to perform a good composition shampoo and the ability to leave the conditioner behind effectively is based on technology know how . It’s definitely not the positive or negative ion as discussed by some shampoos manufacturers, you should have know better that the positive and negative ion charge that enable the conditioners to leave on the hair argument is too weak, and it will be a surprise that this argument come from a reputable shampoo supplier, I must say.

Formulating shampoos with such properties is not an easy task since the cleansing process tends to removes any material that is to be deposited onto the hair surface. For example, is the active to be deposited had a low affinity for the hair surface it will tend to be washed off easily by detergency process, causing rough and non effective conditioning effect to the fur. In contrast, if the insoluble active, has a strong affinity it will to build up on the hair upon repetitive washing, causing skin allergies to the pets. It is obvious, thus, that when formulating a “2 in 1” shampoo, it is necessary to maintain delicate balance between the processes of detergency, active deposition and build up.

By large, the most frequently used agents to condition hair from shampoos are polycations and silicones, and in many instances, these ingredients are found together in a single shampoo system. The effective usage of these components in a single shampoo system, and there are numerous literature and publications reporting the effectiveness delivery of silicone to hair with polycations. The delivery of insoluble actives such as silicone from shampoo systems has been shown to depend on the molecular weight of polycation used in the shampoo. This dependency can also be used to control the delivery of other insoluble actives to hair by appropriately selecting the polycation molecular weight. This techniques allows us to control the level of conditioner or skin condition agents in shampoo as the deposition of other insoluble actives such as the 7 herbs, aloe Vera, moisturizer, vitamins can be controlled deposited. Oxyzen Therapy Conditioning Shampoo has an effective controlled formulation that enables all the goodness to be transfer to the fur and skin of your pet.

The ability to control and manage the level of silicone delivery to your pets hair is the secret that why PETdiatric Laboratories shampoo is so effectively achieving and meeting your needs in pets bath. Pets love it…

Re: [chrisong] wat brand of shampoo?

Chris,

Hi, I am new here. But like the arguement on using human shampoo and dog shampoo. Well you might be right in a certain extend, but naturally, I believe dogs have different skin compare to human, well, put it this way, they are being shampoo once a week, or most, twice a week. Human are washing their hair on daily basis, or every 2-3 days. So does the pH balances. SO, the human shampoo are designed for this functionality. As to why your dog is having a nice fur after using human shampoo...well, not all dogs alike. Your lovely dog, just happen to enjoy the shampoo, maybe. No comment on the effect/bad effect/good effect from human shampoo, well it is not design to hurt anyone, even dogs. The main ingredient of a shampoo/ or the function of a shampoo are suppose to cleanse the dirt that are deposited on the fur/hair of the subject.

Dogs shampoos are somewhat different comparatively to human shampoo. Apart from the pH level, it is very similar to human shampoo. Well, dogs fur had a different texture as compare to human, their fur are more softer..hehe or finer.

Let me share this with all on these information:

Unlike people who display respiratory symptoms due to their allergies, dogs most commonly develop skin rashes. Understanding canine allergies and their management is the first step in protecting your dog. Skin is a dog's single largest organ, representing 12% of an adult canine's body weight. It is a temperature regulator, an important protector from the environment, and the primary indicator of allergic reactions.

Offending environmental allergens frequently enter the dog's body through direct contact with the skin. Canine skin disease is not that unusual. The most frequent signs include redness (erythema), itching (pruritus), and hair loss (alopecia). Another common canine allergy is atopic dermatitis, an inflammatory itchy, allergic skin disease caused by a hypersensitivity to common environmental allergens such as pollen, mold, or dust mites. Atopy, the most common allergic condition in dogs— 7,000,000 are affected (in the USA) —tends to appear between six months and three years of age and often is a lifelong condition that can lead to hair less, red skin, lesions, and secondary infections.

Another is flea allergy dermatitis, an allergic reaction to flea saliva. Most dogs show immediate hypersensitivity with the primary clinical sign being itchiness. Lesions from the reaction usually appear on the back, tail, or hips. Food allergy, meanwhile, is a response to ingredients that causes either skin or gastrointestinal tract disease. Skin lesions from this condition most commonly appear on the face, ears, or hips. Finally, allergic contact dermatitis is an inflammation of the skin caused by a delayed hypersensitivity to contact with irritants such as fibers, dyes, detergents, and medications.

Well, being the only HALAL certified pet shampoo in Malaysia, we are not pushing for yo of not to use human shampoo. Well, the choice is always yours, but we are here to provide a solution to the pet industry. Enjoy..cheers
