Re: [milky_ways24] Help..Ticks!!

1st how did u apply n use the medication ? dont tell me u use all of the mentioned within 1 week ? then ur dog is a walking pesticide !

for the frontline or bayticol normally does the job well for me. For the frontline or spot on to be effective u have to use if 3 days after you dog have his bath so that the medication will be able to absorb better to their skin.

then.... as the ticks is breeding therefore you need to kill the source. Where is the source u may ask...

1) go to the vet and ask for "tactic" solution. take it dilute it 1 portion to 10 portion of water. Use those spray bottle n spray it all over the house, garden. Avoid letting your dog walk ner to these sprayed place ya as tactic is very strong. u will be able to see the ticks dropping on the floor n all. make sure clear them away.

2) pick ticks from your doggie's body day by day.... hour by hour if need till he/she is clear.

3) spray the frontline / bayticol on those area that have ticks. use one product at a time not all at the same time. Dont need to kill the dog only the ticks la.

Enjoy picking and have fun killing the ticks.

cheers,
minglmy

Re: [milky_ways24] Help..Ticks!!

haiyoh, to me thats too much pesticide on the dog ler so many within 2 mths.

Ok, to me i never use those frontline, anti ticks shampoo, ticks collar, spot-on n such for my dogs unless they are infested with ticks. If not, then the ticks gets immune to the "deticking medication" so in a way that defeats the purpose of the usage of products.

no ticks why do u need to use it ? thats my reasoning.

tactic is strong solutions that is why u need to dilute it with water. As for spray around the house make sure ur doggie stay off the area for abt 1 week. Their nose is nearer to the floor than ours so whatever it is they wud smell or lick it "poisonous stuff" so better beware ok.

remember, kill the roots of the problem and use 1 products to solve ur problem and not multiple la. later doggie also pengsan. always remember, when a person kena some sort of virus also we need to be quarantine the person and the area, same goes for dogs. clear the contamination area and then work on the dog then you should be ok.

hope this helps ya.

cheers,

Re: [minglmy] Help..Ticks!!

Hi,

Last time I also have the same problem as yours. My mongrel and another doggie have ticks all over their body. As a matter of fact, the root is from my mongrel dog and my doggie got the ticks when playing with the mongrel. And my whole house also have the ticks as the doggie is placed inside the house until I get phobia with the ticks Tongue. I am also using the "tactic solution" to kill the ticks. It will take about 2 - 3 months to kill all the ticks.

What I did, I went to the Giant and bought those big white bottle spray that some used for gardening I guess. Depends on your dog coat, my doggie has quite a long coat, I poured 1 and 1/2 cup to 2 cups into the spray and dilute with water. Whenever I spray the dogs, I will spray the whole house also. Even the walls, corners, sofas, cushions, mattress, blankets as the ticks can climb that. Once you spray to sofas, cushions, mattress and blankets, the ticks might come out if they are hiding inside. Sometimes I will mix 1 cup of "tactic solution" when I mop the floor. The ticks dun like the smell, it will come out from the dog and try to look for places that dun have the smell. Once they come out, I will use lighter to burn them Tongue. Once you spray it, the ticks no longer sucking the doggie anymore, but they might stick and hang to their fur. So you gotta catch them everyday. Sometimes the ticks will crawl to under my doggie chin as I do not spray at the mouth, you gotta look at doggie's chin also lo.

Normally the vet will advise spray once in 10 days, but if too many like your case, I spray 2 times in a week. After few days of spraying, I will bath my doggie so that the ticks that hanging on the fur will fall then I will spray again. After some time if the ticks are reduced or hard to find, I reduced it to about once a week and gradually reduced. Last time I took about 3 months to clear all the ticks. Now, can sleep and sit and watch TV peacefully ready haha. Last time, every nite need to become a tick hunter, searched the tick on the floor, wall, sofas.........

Hope this will help you.....

Re: [chaiwoon] Help..Ticks!!

Hi there... it's unavoidable if u leash ur dog out everyday to "kena" ticks.....

you may consider to get ur dog a tick collar which can prevent ticks up to 6 months..... for me i think is kinda effective....

Cheers,
Sean

Re: [coolio_2005] Help..Ticks!!

hi,

from what i understand, once your dog is infected with ticks, even when you apply medication, the ticks won't be gone so fast. You might need to reapply the medication every week or two until your dog is tick-free. After dat, you can apply it once a month.

Re: [coolio_2005] Help..Ticks!!

Hi,

My vet informed me that if the dog already has ticks, then I have to use the Frontline spray coz its works more effectively than FrontLine Spot-On. Once the dog is tick free, then you can change to Spot On from the spray version. This has worked so far for my Miniature Schnauzer but I still find that I pick ticks up when we go out. They will not suck on the dog but just cling to his fur and do a walk-about and so I find them jumping off in my car and house. Am now looking for a solution to this : )

Hope this helps..

Re: [coolio_2005] Help..Ticks!!

Tick Collar wouldn't help you to get rip off ticks & it will not tire your dog. Tick collar act the same as the frontline spray. When your dog wear it on the neck. The medication will absord from your dog skin & hair then to the whole body. Disadvantage of tick collar is that the collar cannot come to contact with water it will loss the effectiveness of the medication & also your dog cannot bite or lick it. Lastly, the medication act very slow in killing the ticks.

As I mention before, your pug are short coated breed dogs is much easy to solve the ticks problem compare to long coated breed dog. You no need frontline to solve your problem. Just your time and patient to go thru your dog body in detail to find the tick & kill it. If you got $$$ to burn then is up to you.

Re: [kitkitkit] Help..Ticks!!

hi there, actually this collar won't kill tick, this is just to prevent and make them stay away from you dog.

Recently i use another product from BAYER ( i can't remember the name, roughly platicol), this need to mix with water and spray on ur dog. Quite effective and won't affect ur dog skin as this is not that kind of medicine that went into their vein.

Cheers
