I used to have 1 during my study in the USA... There are people who disagree and agree about bringing this kind of dogs over here... The weather might be a killer but a Siberian Husky able to survive here so I bet Alaskan Malamute too.. But to me, no matther how much I love those dogs, unless I am rich to on air-cornditional 24 hours aday only I might consider one... Sorry I cannot be any help but I remember once I had this person keep telling me about how much they will suffer in Malaysia, a hot country and shoudn't be brought back here and all... Sigh... I'm see alaskan malamute is dog show cheras !!! 2 of them, age only 1 year old, but thier size is just like a lion. thier owner said, they live 24/7 under air-cond.....thier owner bring big fan to there for them, while waiting competition.
The 2 Alaskan Malamute that you saw at Phoenix Plaza issit with thick wooly coat? If it is then the two dogs are not for showing cos wooly coat is disqualiified. I was there helping a fren to show his Alaskan.
Alaskan is a very strong, friendly and clean dog. They can survive the hot weather in Malaysia but you can't expect them to have thick and nice coat. If possible, you have to provide them with air-con 24/7 and also lots of vaccuming cos they really shed alot.
You are so lucky to be able to be near them.. I am dying to even sleep with them... I miss mine so much that I non-stop looking through my photo... If not my parents or know that they can survive here, I might just bring him back with me... Fiona

My wife wants to employ MAID to take care of my Taro but I afraid the MAID will bully Taro,so she has to be a full time housewife to take care of Taro lah !

Its Okay to have Mals and Huskies in Malaysia . All they need is to acclimatise to the weather. When arriving from overseas they will shed their undercoat rather bad but their top coat will still remain. ( Mals and Huskies have two coats ) . After a couple of months you'll find them used to the weather. A/C would be great however its not a must. Do however have lots of drinking water to avoid them from dehydration.The pics you see in my avartar are my two Mals
If you are looking for a guard dog, then Malamute is not a good choice. They are super friendly and won't bark at strangers. To them, every human being are their frens. Oh, did I tell you that they'll howl and "talk" too.

I dun have a Mal but wish to get a Husky later, c how first. I've seen an adult Mal which is about 3 years old and also handled a Mal puppy in dog show before, hence I know a little bit about this breed.

No choice leh ! Promised the breeder that we'll do our best with the Two Mals. Gonna be difficult especially with Safari but I think she's ok now. Bought some super treats to lure her this time. Hope it works
