Ray, this post should divert to Winnie.

Yours a blue roan ECS from SaSa ? picture shown looks familiar to me !

I have a call from Sasa about Roan ECS from Cheras but I have told her mine is a male ECS.

In fact, I am trying to adopt Winnie ECS for my coursin sister. She dont want to ask about age , male or female as long is an ECS. She love ECS after seeing mine at my place , Gosh, she play with my ECS two hours ! cant imagine and I was shocked she like the ECS so much ! may be because ECS is rapidly attached to the person whom touch and pet them !

Yeah, you are right, ECS , energetic and playfull (if only you start the game) if not, they will just follow you whereever you go. Mine like to sit infront of me and keep his eyes on me.

Ray, have you got the same problem like mine ? that is, their ears always get wet and dirty when they eat juicy food and water ! have you got any idea how to keep clean their ears ? Just wonder ! I have to clean it every time after food !

Take care

My Jojo is 1 year++. She is fully vaccinated and microchipped. Unfortunately for you virgil, My uncle wants to adopt her as he loves her very much. I am giving away because I am pregnant and I wont be able to take care of her. It was a very hard decision for me but I have no choice. I am glad anyway, because I can still see Jojo whenever I want. Re: [Virgil Ang] Looking for ECS lover

Yup, I got mine from Sasa. He is very naughty and has lately been causing me sleepless nights. He is a good watchdog. He doesn't like noise, particularly fireworks and babies crying. Even funny and high pitched laughs annoy him as well. Isaiah is very greedy when it comes to food...he can't even see you in the house eating, or else he would bark his head off. Is yours the same?

He also has this tendency of playing with a tennis ball and not letting it go. He may just drop it in front of him and could sit there for a long time staring at it....as if trying to communicate! Really wish I know how an ECS thinks.

Yup, the ears always get wet when he drinks water. As I keep him outside the house, I do not have much of a problem with that. Also, I only feed him dog biscuits with canned food. So, his ears don't get wet. I have bought an ear wash, quite good, his ears now don't smell anymore even after a week.

I'm actually trying to find my ECS a girlfriend to let him extend his tree family. Do you know any owner looking for a male ECS? Would be good to keep an ECS puppy.

Do you go for the JT? I went last week, and it was my first. Unfortunately, there was no other ECS around. But Isaiah was very good and active throughout the run. Hope to bring him again this week if I'm not caught up with work.

Re: [raycwf] Before you breed ....

Another one for you to read on.... btw, isn't Isaiah adopted from PAWS by Sasa? If from PAWS he should be neutered right ?

Anyway, enjoy reading ya !

www.adoptarescuepet.org/byb.htm

Up to 10 million healthy animals are killed in U.S. pounds and shelters

every year. The killing could easily be prevented by spaying and neutering.

Euthanasia is the single largest cause of death for dogs in the U.S. Each year 27 million of the animals are born. Five to ten million we classify as "surplus" and kill. That's about one million per month. These numbers do not include the millions of dead dogs whose bodies we scrape off the streets, or the hundreds of thousands of abandoned, severely neglected or abused ones who never make it to our shelters to be counted and killed. The five to ten million figure represents those we "must" kill because they are unwanted.

Most of these animals are young and healthy; in fact, it is estimated that a majority are less than one year of age. The problem is simple: we have too many dogs. Too many for the too few homes available. The solution we have opted for is to kill the extras. This solution has been considered acceptable by default, as though there were no other way to control the crisis. And we spend over $1 billion every year destroying "man's best friend."

Why is this happening in the United States today? The number one biggest contributor to the problem is the backyard breeder not the puppy mills.

This is a name that has become unpopular and no one wants to admit they are a backyard breeder. Many people do not even realize they are part of the
problem. This is what I need to address in this post. The only way to stop the needless killing of dogs is to stop the needless breeding of them.

Every breed of dog recognized by the AKC has a written standard, a blueprint of what the dog should look like and act like. These standards were written so that all would know what a quality example of the breed is and strive to produce dogs that meet or exceed the standard in health, temperament and appearance. To be sure you are breeding dogs that meet these standards, your dogs must be judged by people who have a lifetime of experience among the breed. Do you know the standard of the Pure Breed Dog? Does your dog meet this standard according to an AKC Judge? If not, your dog is pet quality. A pet is to be loved, cherished, trained, cared for, spoiled and
bragged about, but it is NEVER to be bred. No matter how cute or sweet the dog may be, if it is not up to the standard, you have no business breeding it.

If you have a purebred dog this does not give you the right to breed it.

Most purebred dogs are not breeding quality. If you breed your pet quality dog, you are a backyard breeder, whether you breed the dog in your backyard, garage, living room or an expensive hotel room, the term is still backyard breeder.

If your pet quality dog has AKC papers, that's nice but it doesn't change anything. You still don't have the right to breed it.

If your pet quality dog cost you $500 be glad you had the money to afford it. You still have no right to breed it.

Do you think you can make your $500 back if you breed your pet dog or if your pet dog is a color or size that isn't in the standard but you just know everyone will want buy a pup if you breed her? Shame on you! Now you are a backyard breeder with the purpose of breeding pups for bucks.

If the price for a tail dock or an ear crop seem high to you, what are you going to do when your beloved pet needs an emergency C section. Will you even be there with her to know if she is in trouble? Would you recognize trouble before it's too late?

And if you still want to breed your pet dog but need to ask who's supposed to cut off the tails and ears, ask yourself "What the Hell am I thinking!"

Do you think genetic testing is something they used in the OJ trial but has nothing to do with your dog breeding career? You are a backyard breeder.

Backyard breeders sell pups that aren't up to the standard of the breed. They do this for many reasons. None are good enough reasons to contribute to the killing of dogs. Period.

Backyard breeders will swear all of their pups went to a good home. They believe this but it's not true. Some may have been lucky enough to go to a good home but more than half of them will end up dead, in a shelter, alone, on a cold table with a needle sticking out of their leg. Some of those good homes will get tired of the dog and they will just give it away to anyone who is willing to take it. Some of your beloved dog's children will end up living alone in a backyard, barking all night, cold and neglected until the
owner gets complaints and then that pups will be dead. Some will be starved and beaten. Some will be bred until they die from it. Some will end up in rescue and I will have to find space for it in my home and I will have to show it that not all humans are bad. I will train it, and feed it the proper food so it can heal. I will take the fleas off of it and I will get rid of the worms. I will give it the shots it should have had but no one remembered to give it. I will do these things because the backyard breeder didn't do it and wouldn't take the dog back when it was 2 years old and full of problems.

I will spay or neuter that pup before I find it a new home so that I will never have to rescue one of it's pups and so I can be sure it will never end up in the hands of another backyard breeder looking to make profit from puppies.

Backyard breeders are not responsible pet owners. They think they love the dogs but it's not really true because they don't really want to be bothered with doing all that it takes to breed ethically. They love feeling important when they say "I breed "Pure Breed dogs"". But breeding pet dogs isn't something to be proud of. If a shame on our society. It's the reason for
the killing that goes on in shelters. Why do you want to be part of that?

Do you want to be respected? Spay or neuter you pet dog. There's really no other way. The kind of homes you want for your pet pups don't want to buy from you. They are looking for responsible, respected breeders who are doing something for the breed as a whole. Most of those who will come running to buy your pups are the kind of people I wouldn't give a dog I didn't like to. They are the ones who will turn your puppy into a shelter when the novelty wears off. That's a fact.

Want to stop the problem of killing 1 Million dogs a month all over America?

Spay or neuter your pet dog now and tell everyone you know to do the same and leave the breeding to the people who are doing something to better the breed.

Want to be a respected breeder? Start by reading this:

www.minschnauzer.com/breeding/index.html

Then find someone who lives up to all of it and ask them to be your mentor.

Do your research. Know what you are doing. Have a savings account ready for all the problems you will encounter. Buy the best dogs you can find for your breeding program. Do everything your mentor tells you, he/she has the experience and is not just trying to push you around. Be sure that everything you do as a breeder meets the standards we have set for responsible breeders. Or don't breed!

Let's make a difference starting now.

cheers,
minglmy

Hello Ray. my apology for the late reply. Ear Wash ? may I know the brand name ? I have little problem on my ECS's ear too, at times, smelly, sometime not. GF for your ECS ? I guess what Ming yang said was right, would it be already neutered ? You are lucky if he is not, then you can look for GF for him. You can check whether there is scar around rear left hind close to the its penis) Ming Yang seems strong in objecting people's dog mating affair, she always want it done professionally I am lucky, my ECS is very brave and is not afraid of fire works or loud noise, he is cool and calm except his barking is not normal (sound like sore throat and is abnormal for a matured dog's barking sound) other than this, he is normal, active and playful. ECS is very very attached and loyal to his loved owner and will follow whereever you go, for a walk or just a short distance. Dont forget, he keeps thing in his heart and will remember what you have done, try not to pet your other dog infront of him, jealousy makes ECS unreasonable. this happened to me once and was bitten by my ECS in the fight with my minpin. both minpin and myself was hurt. Just imagine !!!! Good luck to your sear for GF for your ECS. chat again

Re: [raycwf] Looking for ECS lover

Hi,

Your ECS sound like mine. Mine was a rescue during the first day of CNY. One month has since passed and the ECS is still with us. We have decided to keep him and treat his skin and ear problem and he's getting so much better. He's so annoyed with firecracker and loud noise and would bark his head off. So the first 15 day (CNY period) was a nightmare especially at night cos he'll bark non-stop when he hear fireworks. After that period, he's an angel. But once he get out of the house, he's a devil. He'll pull at the leash and sniff non-stop. We are using choke chain on him but that wasn't good enough to control him. Wonder what can I do to correct this problem. Any suggestion?

Re: [Virgil Ang] Looking for ECS lover

Wow....so many things to read about breeding! Well, I suppose Ming Yang is only trying to care for all the dogs in the world. Appreciate the links given by Ming Yang. Still flipping through though. But just wanted to have some nice ECS puppies to take care of. I forgot what is the brand of the Ear Wash, will let you know tomorrow. But buy it at Pet Safari located at Ikano. Elsewhere is selling at about RM4 higher. Even after 2 weeks, his ear doesn't smell. I don't think Isaiah has been neutered. He was trying to mate with my other dog last time around, but she was too small for him. Sly My ECS does have good memory. However, at times, he does forget where he has left his ball...so would need to remind him to pick up his ball. True, he is attached to the owner. However, if he gets the ball into his mouth or a plastic mineral bottle, he would walk way ahead of you feeling happy and forget about me! Isaiah is not so possessive but he does like to eat a lot. Despite eating so much, he is still a pack of bones. Any idea on make his flesh grow? Or are they just like that?

Ray, sound like you have got a heathy ECS huh ! lucky you anyway.

You can contact Alvin Augustus Ng for a GF, he has got many friends with ECS. Alvin is a very helpful kind hearted guy ,worthwhile to maintain friendship with him.

Yeah, I guess you better act fast to have your ECS mated because Blue Roan ECS is rare . do it while still strong.

Mine dont eat alot, I think they are born with that physical size and wont grow very fat, this may be natural. I have not seen one overweight ECS.

What a joke, yours is exactly like mine, Ray, mine seems like to play with tennis ball and plastic bottle, he will give the ball back but I need to fight for the bottle haha.

I dont have problem to walk him out , he sometime will pull but I stop him by choking. I think you have got the right way to train him walk beside you by choking, but dont choke him dead !!!! haha joking.

Nice chat.

Take Care

Re: [Virgil Ang] Looking for ECS lover

Hi Virgil...before I forget, here is the name of the ear wash, it's called Four Paws Ear Wash. It comes in a rectangular box, top half is white, while the bottom half has coloured stripes...blue, green. It costs approx RM24 at Pet Safari. According to the instructions, you just need to apply once a month. However, personally, I think for ECS you can do it twice a month. Isaiah likes his ears to be massaged cause he makes funny noise when I massage.

Who is Alvin Augustus Ng? How do I get in touch with him?

I do try to choke him as well when he gets ahead of me. Sometimes I'd just use the tennis ball to guide him so that he'd stay close without the leash.

Lately, he has been shedding his fur a lot. Do you know of any particular reason? Or could it just be the time of the year when dogs shed thier coat of fur? If not, is there any type of food or shampoo that could stop this shedding?
