Re: [kesuke] *Mak's chat zone*

welcome welcome. aiya.. actually i don't like to enter the theater coz everytime i step out from it, i'll have a feeling of "wah! so late already?" and it is a bad idea to go for a movie when meeting up with friends coz in the cinema, u just can't chat with them but to keep quiet. (for your information, i TALK A LOT).

well, i put the egg on top of the torch and let the light beam shine through the egg and see from the other side. recently i let my hen to sit on 11 eggs and only one is fertile. that really turned me down. the rest all become "chou ji dan". waste my hen's effort loh...

u from Penang right? actually i visited Penang few months ago and i realised that Penang has lots of quality petshop too these days. actually r they selling expensive? for instants what's the range of price for an ECS puppy? in KL they can range from 800 (i bought direct from the breeder) to 1600 (petshop at Mid valley) and what's the popular breed at Penang? recently i think MS is getting more popular at KL.

kakaka....ya i agree with you....outing with friends if go to the cinemas then a bit 'wasted' lah coz you can't chat with your friends. so you better make the whole day free lah.....then can hang out and also watch movies right? hahahah.....you talk a lot ah?? then can fight with nat here lah....ehhehehee......LaughLaugh

eh? you have a hen? and even have eggs? are you doing an experiment or something? ehheehe....SlyCrazy

yep me penang lang...nat is also penang lang. wah i really dunno the price of an ECS here...haven't been to petshops for a while now and also i don buy from petshops so ... i dunno lah. Tongue but i think it's mostly the same as in KL lah...won't differ much. as for popular breeds...if you check out our penang lang thread..you'll see that no 1 breed really dominates the scene. there are more GRs and labbies lah...but equally more are shih tzus and silkies too.... eh you doing survey ah?? ehehhe....LaughLaugh

for your information, i have 5 hens and 5 cockerel. not doing experiment lah, just wanna "expand" my Serama chicken population.

not doing survey, just "kepo" only. and see if the market price is cheaper there, maybe i can buy a puppy later when i visit my aunt.

actually i think it is not easy to keep dogs when u have a very sensitive nose. i don't know if u have this problem but i do. when i brush them, cleaning them, i'll sneeze like mad and having running nose for hours....

Re: [kesuke] *Mak's chat zone*

well, all the chickens are kept in the cages and they r seperated from the dogs. my dogs love to chase moving creatures like birds, gecko, cats, croaches etc. everytime when goldy barks at the chickens, the cock will be fully alert and i simply hold his head to the cock (since he likes to fight with the cock) and let the cock to peck his nose! then i'll say "serve u right!" to teach him a lesson, but looks like he never learn.

i have lots of animals in my house, beside the dogs and the chickens, i have tortise, fishes, mouse (sendiri mari punya Laugh) and lots of plants.

beside my nose, i also have sensitive skin. if the r dirty and after i play with them, my skin will have rhesus and very itchy. gosh... but i think it is no big deal lah as i can tahan it.

my bro used to have tortoiselah..we had 2..one is 5 years old while another is 1. they are quite big so my mum put it in a pond outside our house and they have been living there for almost a year till one day SPLASH the rain carried them away...we never see them again Frown

talking bout chicken my grandma use th have one black color hen with white fur..very nutritous for health wan..then one day she ran out thru the drain. my mum was searching high & low then the next day mum saw lots of feathers and her internal testines in the drain..the culprit was the stray cats! my mum was so furious that my mum chased all the cat away with hot water Pirate

then my dad has a bird..dunno wat birdlah..kept for 8 years d, then one day some ppl came into the house and stole him. my dad was so upset Mad

yeah, KL is a place to spend. so i always avoid going to these malls as they really make me spend.

i know the type of chicken that u had last time. my mother had it too. well, i keep fish as a hobby since i was 9 yo. can't live without it.

that's one of the reason why i keep cocker, coz their coat is just too beautiful! their shinny coat is really the dream of all the girls who wish to have shinning hair..... and everytime when they r under the sun, they really shine! ***** and look so sparkling clean (although they r not).

not band but orchestra. Wink

by the way..... don't know if u r serious... it is not wrong to go clibbing but not too often as this activities only waste time and consume money only loh..... (for my opinion). better spend your free time and money wisely as life is short and time is too little to be wasted. if u r free, spend it by doing something beneficial like read or learn something or plan your time table loh. sounds boring but at least you r learning something in every seconds. anyway, work hard and play hard. and that's what i call life.

Re: [makrawl] *Mak's chat zone*

Smilewah,

break your back so serious ah? i used to work under a groomer last time so i have done lot of dog grooming..and poodle shave is my favourite besides MS shave...ACS has more shaving to do compared to ECS....only trim the paws and the ears...however if ur ECs cannot sit still (most CS are like thatlah)..then teruklah..coz if they keep on jumping off the table or walk here and there....then it'll really break not your back only but also your patience Mad

wah..u r in orchestra? so artistic..wow wow wow Shocked...requires so much practise and hardwork to be in an orchestra..what instrument are you playing? i always admire those artistic people...i used to learn piano..until step 3..haha..gave up coz teacher keeps on abusing me Pirate

u think i'm serious in going clubbing everynitekah? i only go once or twice a month but i usually go out and catch up with my buddies or high schoolmates for a drinklah Wink BTW my favourite past time is to groom my dogs & take them out to either hiking or swimming and to rest coz i often don't get enough of it.....my life revolves around my dogs and when i'm into doing something..i give my all, so when i go out i enjoy myself to the MAX too..hehe Laugh

Re: [nathalie] *Mak's chat zone*

that's why lah. never really sit still. very dangerous especially when i'm cleaning their ear wax. last time i use cotton bud but now dare not to use anymore just roll the cotton into rod and clean with fingers only. when there's a strange sound, they'll jump up directly and run. have to "marah-marah" everytime grooming them.

well, i'm not into symphony orchestra. i'm joining Chinese orchestra. i'm playing er-hu since i was 13 yo. (the one ppl always said "potong ayam" leh). your teacher didn't abuse u.... i think it's becouse the lack of practice who abuse u lah.Wink i'm suffering the same thing now.

by the way, i found a website on ECS groups from HK yesterday. looks interesting.

Penang has lots of these playes too especially Bkt Mertajam. coz the school is good. well, i think it's good to learn one or two music instruments as i can spend my free time wisely at the same time entertaining myself and the family or friends too. sometimes i play at some function (eg. wedding, restaurant, concerts) and earning some extra pocket money too while sharpening my skill from time to time. maybe u can hire me to play music on your wedding day? i'll give you 20% discount?Laugh

Re: [kesuke] *Mak's chat zone*

so sorry to hear that. i understand how you feel at the moment. i had a mongreal last time who stay in the garden. one day he was poison too and we were not at home for a few days (we ask the neighbour to feed him for us). my neighnour called us once she realised he is acting abnormally and vomitting. we came back after a day or two (i can't remember) and he just stand till he sees everyone of us that night. the next day when we woke up, he is gone, sneak out from the house (he never do it before) and went to a place where we can't find him to die. i was so mad that i don't understand why ppl would do such a thing?! since that incident, i always crate or cage all my dogs up when i'm out for long hours or during night time. ppl ask me why i wanna crate them up when i'm gone? they said they thought i keep dogs to guard the house? but they r wrong. actually it is enough for me when they spot something and bark. the rest is my business. just try to be carefull as anything could happen in any moment that out of your expectation. hope this won't make you step back from keeping dogs again.

losing a dog is a very very hard time but try to accept it as we all know that every life will comes to an end one day from the first day we r born on this earth. of course, we all hope our dogs leave in peace and so does our dogs don't want us to live in sorrow after they leaved. i had a spizt who was run over by my brother in law when he was rushing to his grandma's house after knowing that she passed away. she was killed on the spot. i cry for days coz i look after her since the first day she came and she's my favourite dog and staying with me for 9 years. she mean more than only a dog to me. but comes into another point, this might be one of her choice to relief herselves as she was suffering bone cancer at the leg. (i brought her to the vet, did surgery, but the cancer cells was not remove successfully). and i don't know if it is coincidence or true...... few days after her death, i saw her in my dream, wagging her tail happily and running to me with a healthy leg (she was "tempang" for months) then i woke up. my sis also dreamed of her as she was rubbing her body happily around her legs soon after her death. well, this makes me feel better as i "know" she's happy and doesn't suffer from the sicknes anymore. (sounds "stupid" but this is one way that give me hope that she's fine and happy)

time will heal your wound. sorry to make you feel sad again by asking your dog's incident. appreciate all the things around us while we can. love is everywhere... if u open your heart.

Re: [nathalie] *Mak's chat zone*

well, i bath them with shampoo once a week and clean them once a while with clean water only if they mess themselves up before the bathing day. groom them about two weeks once. don't have enugh time to do it every week. actaully they enjoy ears cleaning very much and show me a very "shiok" face everytime i "dig" their ears.

yeah we mustn't force to learn anything. interest must come from inside. i told myself that i wanna learn erhu since i was about 10 yo. got the chance to learn playing erhu eventually at 13 yo till today. maybe everyone should ask themselves "do i really love or like to do it?" this includes keeping a pet like dog. some ppl i saw were just "hangat hangat tahi ayam" only. just like a poor beagle that my f**king neighbour has. really feel like cursing them sometimes.

Re: [makrawl] *Mak's chat zone*

thank you so much for sharing..i really really appreciate it.
i am already feeling much better though i still miss my boy dearly. i cried for days when i first lost him, lost my apetite to eat and everything...and he was still so young...only 2 plus...he'd be three last month.
of course we understand that all living things will die one day...but not thru circumstances like this. we hope our beloved dogs will live long lives and grow old with us and share our lives...but sadly, mine din.
i dreamed of my boy just a few days ago...the first time...and i felt so happy coz i get to hug him in my dream. it doesn't sound stupid at all to believe in dreams...at least i do believe that my boy is up at the rainbow bridge..together with your spitz and your mongerl dog.

i will get another dog but just not so soon...not a right time as i'll be leaving for my studies...and i still miss my boy.
thank you for everything you've said...i am very touched. Smile

Re: [makrawl] *Mak's chat zone*

ooh..that's still alot of effort put in grooming your dogs. i groom my dogs on weekly basis n bath my pom twice a month or sometimes 3 times a month while my lab 1-2 times a week coz she smells.my lab's ears have to be cleaned almost everyday coz it smells as closed ears tend to smell more..does ur ECS? So teruklah the way u say u 'syiok' to see their expressions on their ears. mine dun really like to clean earsloh esp my lab coz she'll scratch..hehe..look so cute..Wink

i can't agree most with the point that interest of owning a dog have to come from within. many people especially youngsters & children nowadays take thing for granted..want this want that but then after that throw aside n the poor maid have to take care or leave the poor animal to rot. went to my fren's house ..the neighbour has a beutiful but skinny lab. he's tied outside the shade 24 hours aday eventhough it's raining or humid.they dun give him food or water till they r back from work at the evening. sometimes my frens pity him so buy him some bun, but the neighbour will scold coz he poo after food..there's nothing i can do coz if i report to spca they'll think it's my fren's family..meaning indirectly pull them down the trouble..so juz hope one day when the owner's not around we leave the lab from the house...Frown

Re: [nathalie] *Mak's chat zone*

sometimes we have to take action if we see anything not good but do it within your limit, not beyond your limit. i did called the SPCA last time to complain about the beagle that kept "in-humanely" by my neighbour. they did came but they leave the place without taking any action. later the neighbour told my mother that someone is "jealous" as they keep a pure breed and call the SPCA to kacau them (i was the one! but they have no idea). they said "my dog is very "hoh mia" one, eat branded dog food and use nice container to eat and drink" (but staying in the tiny cage 24 hours a day, poo. sleep and pee at the same place) u know? the dog howl sadly everyday and the cage is placed just beside my room window. i feel so sad for can't do anything everytime i hear it. and they seems like become deaf already coz they have no reaction at all everytime the dog howls. and they also have a rottweiler where they tie her up 24 hours a day with a short chain and again, she poo, pee sleep at the same spot. but one thing strange, they release the two mongeals to roam freely in the compound and never lock them up....... actually the pure breed is own by the son (who is earning dirty money) who bought the dogs leave them to the uncivilize parents and let them torture them. he seldom stay in the house (might saw him once in a few months). i nenevr talk to them since few moths ago as they become very very unreasonable and cursing ppl for no reason. (include me. imagine that?! an old lady (60++) and accusing me (26 yo) that i pay someone to attack her!? i mean for what?! i scolded her kau kau that day)

just pick up the phone and call SPCA. do what ever u can. your details is kept confidential. but i think i should inform your friend first before u do it. let them be ready.

how stupid is that by saying after the dog eats it will poo. and they doesn't feed becouse they don't want the dog poo. yeah, why don't they stop eating and drinking as all will come out again eventually? and why not they "recycle it" as this will save LOTS of money? they use their butt to think instead of using their brain (if they ever have one).

i went to Guang Xi for 5 days. yeah, those r really asshole. someone told me these group of ppl will only need 3 sentences to describe them. " Shang che shui jiao, xia che niao niao, hui jia shen me dou bu zhi dao" (sleep when u r in the car, pee when u r out from the car, and at last u know nothing when u r home)

nice scenary. i think i'll plan a future trip again. but this time, it must be a back pack travel with maximum 4 person only. that will be more fun.

u wanna see panda? easy lah! take a bus to KL and look for me. sure u'll see a BIG PANDA who didn't sleep well since months ago.Laugh

actually u can see panda at Hong Kong's Ocean park. i was there and suprisingly met two beautiful pandas. so happy to see them. and one of them even "bang sai" infront of me. for the first time in my entire life i saw panda's poo. greyish green and looks not so gross afterall.

well, Guang Xi is at the south of China and it is now late spring to early summer. the weather is just like us but the breeze is cooling. better avoid going to China during winter especially for old ppl as lot's of them tends to fall sick when they couldn't stand the extremem weather. well, the air is dryer than ours and u should bring some lip balm to keep your lips moist.

make sure u take enough water with u. and eat fruits and take vit C. and don't miss the "bizzare toilet" of China.

well, i have some relatives at China (they r my grandpa's cousins' childrens) but didn't really keep in touch as they treat us like "the goose who lay golden eggs". tired of them. try to treat them good but they treat u as piggy bank only. i also wonder if i should go back to visit my grandpa's village coz i'm worry they might "strip my skin off" coz i have no money.

Re: [nathalie] *Mak's chat zone*

Hi there,

Would love to join your chit chat forum but I don't really have much to share. Just for my first furkid a week back and since then have been busy visiting the vet in Ikano every weekend trying to get my kid vaccinated.

But unfortunately, each time go there, the doctor say he's not comfortable about the pup getting it done yet and then force me to go for another round of appointment. Money gone, time wasted. And the worst part is, my furkid seems to dislike travelling by car.. Journey to and fro Ikano is really a killer for her. *sigh*

Oh yea, to answer your first post question.. LOTR whole series is already out. But not too sure if there are any full triology sets yet.

Smilehi,

dun ahve much to share? don't worry..we dun juz talk about dogs here..we also talk about our lives and complains about anything..as long as u have anything about everything u want to voice up..juz join usWink

why don't u call the vet first before going there? it's quite inethical of him to keep on rescheduling his appointment unless ur pup's weak or something's wrong..BTW did he mention any reasons for not vaccinating your pup? Crazy

if ur baby's not comfortable travelling, why not try to locate a vet near your residental area or somewhere within a shorter distance? actually it's recommended to have a vet near your place so that in cases of emergency, u don't have to travel so far plus it's more convenient to your vet which already has the details/medical records on your pup...think about it Smile

Re: [nathalie] *Mak's chat zone*

Well.. did thought about relocatiing to a nearer vet, but what to do? the first vaccination is supposed to be provided by the vet as part of the package for purchasing the pup.

He did not specifically mention the reason, just that he feels/thinks that the pup is not able to withstand the dosage. *sigh*

Oh well, how much does the 3 vaccination course costs? Coz if it's not too much, might as well forget about the package deal and get them from some vet nearby my place...

Re: [mieliki] *Mak's chat zone*

cannot withstand the dosage? what type of excuse is that? Mad unless and until your pup is sick or or below 6 weeks old, if not what 'super dosage' he's giving youyr baby? it's a lame excuselah...

i suppose your pup is almost 2 mths now rite? it's time to take it's first dosage..take 6 in 1 instead of parvo virus coz he's stronger to take 6 in 1 d, plus 6 in 1 has a dosage against distemper which is commonly attacking pups.

normally a dosage would 6 in 1 would cost around 30-50 depending on which vet u take it while the 2nd jab would be of the same price but the last jab is the booster will cost u less...so in total it'll be less than 200.

however if u are insisting to go back to the vet, just call up and ask him what type of vaccination is he giving your dog....

sometimes when u buy a dog, ppl can promise you the whole wold but once it got out to your hands then it's a different story...sadly but there's lack of enforcement causing many innocent buyers to encounter this...if u browse thru the forums you'll see breeders/petshops refuse to issue certificates, refuse to admit selling a sick dog.. but u are lucky...coz u juz face a vaccination problem...call him and pester him coz it's your rights..good luck ya Smile

Re: [nathalie] *Mak's chat zone*

Hi Nathalie

Well.. if it was just a vaccine problem then it would have been easily solved.. One thing I hope you can help to clarify.. Do all dogs come with a birth certificate or something irregardless if they have been microchipped or registered with MKA?

When I "rescued" the my girl, I was told that she was not not registered with MKA and hence there was no cert or microchip provided. When I asked of her birthdate, the salesperson just mention "You do the calculations yourself.. she was exactly 7 weeks plus 7 days when you bought her." On hearing that only I feel frustrated and had a hard time refraining myself from saying "up yours"...

Thank god my girlie is gaining weight.. but she seems to pick up the habit of biting very hard. Sigh.. telling her stern "No", tap her nose, tossing her around.. all these just seem to encourage her more instead of stopping her.. any special recommendations?

Re: [mieliki] *Mak's chat zone*

u meanioned ur gal was not registered under MKA rite? if she does not meaning that you'll not get a certificate stating her lineage, her breed and her registered details..however if u purhased your pup from a responsible breeder, they should have at least vaccine their pups before handing it to u or the pet shop u purcahsed her from.

a puppy's immunes system is very weak n they can be easily contacted with various deadly disease if they do not have their at least first jab done before they are placed among other dogs. only after it attained 6 mths the immune system starts to get stronger..which is why u need the 3 dosages are crucial to puppies.

normally after the pup's first visit to vet (usually for their first jab), the vet will issue a vaccination/health record for recording the pup's vaccination dates, types of dosages, it's birthdate & personal details. the card should be choped & signed by a vet and not the breeder themselves.

as the record will only be issued by a vet after it's first jab, however they might not issue u the vaccination record as your pup's vaccination is still pending..as ther's nothing to record. if your pup is bought from a petshop i think chances are they'll not provide u with the birthdate coz i presume they don't even know as the breeder who sold the pups to them sounds so irresponsible.

anyway as long as u love them, birthdate aren't so important rite..i ahve Teddy for almost 5 years now and i dun even know when was he exactly born..so i celebrate the day i bought him back.Smile

for the biting problem..hope this link can help:

Re: [mieliki] *Mak's chat zone*

thanks for the info on LOTR.

by the way, i think Nathalie has a point. sometimes, for my personal point of view, that MKA cert doesn't really important if u don't have the intention to breed your dog. but of course we hope to get a dog with the cert as it is more "secure" than getting a dog that doesn't have it. my male dog is given by someone and he doesn't comes with the cert too (according to the fella, he had the cert but somehow lost it). i got my girl from the breeder and she comes with the cert.

at the beggining, i was quite concern about this and tried all the way to track out his background and hoping to get him the cert again. unfortunately he is born before the microchipping system is introduced. so i failed. but after living with him for sometimes, he has become so attached to me and our relation (two dogs and i) gets so well that i don't really care about their "status" anymore. i don't have the intention to breed them too by the way. if i want to breed dogs, both the dam and sire must have cert so that the pups future will be more secure as when ppl r willing to pay more for a dog (as u know prices r different between a dog with cert and a dog without cert) shows that they really love them (i hope).

Well.. at least being an owl you still getta sleep around after 3am tops.. myself hardly get to sleep.. go back only have to serve my furmistress and attend to her needs.. my sleep time per day since I've gotten charmed by her has been shortened to approx less than 5 hours of sleep..

yeah, is my mother who does all the feeding and watering for me while i was away. sometimes i feel sorry to make her do so much things for me. fortunately i'm able to come home every weekend and i'll bath, clean, wash, do weeding etc my pets and plants.

by the way, i realised that everytime when the drought season comes, ticks will start attacking my dogs..... i suspect that it is because the drain in between my house and my neighbour's is dry out and those creepy crawlies comes over and...... i've sprayed the garden with some tick chemicals and bath them with bayticol too but those damn ticks seems to return endlessly untill the rain comes again. now i'm force to use the tick spray that i don't like to use it as i'm affraid that they may lick in the chemicals into their stomach. that's the delima to a dog owner, to use or not to use......... sigh...

yaloh..it's true..did u use bayticol the right way? a vet once told me it's better to bath your dogs first with shalpoo n leave bayticol on the body after bath for 5 minutes..then u can either rinse it off or leave on..i usually leave on n it's more effective tat way..spray..my personal opinion is tat it's not very lasting..lagi dangerous in case they lick it. my kids also lately kena fleas..tats worse..hmm..i muz sit down n catch it everyday..Unsure but if u use bayticol make sure dun use more than the prescribed 3.5ml-5ml of else it's dangerous for ur kids too..the poison will absorb thru the body thus making them weak or vomit..

good luck in your tick combatings ya Smile

u can't do tat, coz eventually u'll get tired n lethergy when u go work/school..better take a nite sleep. remember that u are the owner n she's the dog. she has to follow your lifestyle not u follow hers...this does not mean u don't love her but u need her to undersatnd that she cannot be over pampered in this tender age or else u'll spoil her..so go to sleep..dun look at her & stare at the pc anymore..try to sleep early n she'll do that too once u switched off the lights..Smile

hah?! really these chemicals absorb through the skin?? now i'm REALLY worry. usually i'll have half a bucket of water that added with 5ml of bayticol and "rinse" them well after the bathing is done and let them dry slowly. i admit that last week i lower down the dosage as i'm worry they might got poison instead of the ticks.

my lady, i tell u what.... it is better to get enough sleep coz if u don't ....... you'll look older than what u really r! scarry leh...... lots of ppl tends to eat a lot of stuff to keep young but they forget the most fundamental and important thing- SLEEPING. sleep for at least 7-8 hours (if u can) and u'll feel different in no time. really! of course, don't take me as an example as i'm lack of sleep and looks very "aged" now. and drink lots of water

Re: [mieliki] *Mak's chat zone*

actually it is better to take a look at the sire and dam before u purchase any pups. i know sometimes they r just too cute that makes u forget anything. but to make sure that you r going to have a healthy dog that doesn't have any heritable problem...... then u must calm yourself down and find out whatever that is necessary. and once the dog is into the family, no matter what happen to the dog, we, as their owner MUST not leave them no matter what! recently my friend married to Singapore and she is going to bring her shi tzu mix (about 5-6 yo) there too! i totally support her decision.

Re: [makrawl] *Mak's chat zone*

actually once i put a lil thicker of mixture for teddy, a few hours after that he started vomitting and feeling lethergy..he did not drink coz i was very careful with him. later i brought him to the vet, he said that the measurement is quite important..so 5ml with 5 litres of water make sure it's 5 litres of water or else it'll absorb into the body and is harmful to your dogs.

if u do the tick bath weekly u'll realise that your dog's hair will be drier and more coarse..not so shiny anymore..tats why it should not be done weekly..if u have to do it weekly, try to use conditioner or else ur doggies hair sure become non shiny n dry.

ermm..i get enought sleep coz i wake up at 1 or 2 pm daily eventhough i sleep at 5am..juz after exams then i'll be a normal human being again. my mum always complain that i'm a vampire coz my sleeping time's different from a human being. hello, i also look very aged mah..look like aunty d..Frown ..got dun worry got sleep wan..but never eat nutritional foodloh coz my mum dunno how to cook all those herbs n things like tat..i do drink alot of water...drink at least 4 litres of water a day Smile

hello, ask me to sleep early..u also sleep earlylah..after work means hit the sacklah..not that u have exams of stuffs like that..dogs juz take them for a walk n feed them..after that go rest n u'll look young again..hehe..see told u d the next time u come back it's the 4th page d..heheTongue

Thank god I've not let her out of the house yet.. The tick problems you all mention here is freaky le..Unsure

Oh well.. happy happy.. she will make noise whenever I shut off the lights.. So now everyday when I leave the place, have to make sure the aircond, lights and radio is on. Otherwise she'll show me her temper and bite me all over when I come back..

I still have some scars to show.. Unimpressed

Anybody willing to give me some lessons on how to boss my furmistress around?Tongue

Re: [mieliki] *Mak's chat zone*

ermm..at the moment better keep her indoorslah..coz ticks can cause tick fever which is quite dangerous for pups even adults. since ur babt's immune system's still low..better keep him indoors and of course away from other dogs

wah..now u officially belong to her d, u r mieliki's 'dog'..hehe. welcome to the world of furslave..where all of us are slaves to our dogs. but your's extreme caselah..muz on radio & lights plus air cond lagi..wow pampered nya Angelic

what about buying some toys for her? or some rawhides to keep her busy? Crazy or whatever she likes to play like rope toys n plastic bottles?

wah..not bossy enufkah ur dog? still wan to make her happy & pamper her ah? later u susahlah if u over pamper her..u won't be going holidays peacefully coz worrying over her 24/7 Smile

Re: [nathalie] *Mak's chat zone*

well.. she likes to chew on newspapers that I've put on the floor and later have me find all the pieces of chewed newspaper all over the place. Besides that, she'd just love the idea of jumping at me and start her biting.

Radio, lights and air-cond is a must to stop her from become hot. The fan can't seem to cool her down. And when she's hot.. she'll like to be unpredictable.. wee-wee and poo-poo everywhere & dragging papers and playing with poo-poo.. Frown

now itself also can't go out for more than 3 hours without coming back to check on her liao.. where dare to even think of going holiday le? I'm afraid my furmistress might bring the whole roof down if I'm away for more than 3 hours.. Wanna go watch Troy also have to think of how to smuggle her into the cinema. *sigh*

Re: [nathalie] *Mak's chat zone*

yeah, the chemical will make their fur dry and besides, i don't like the smell too. it's like soaking your dog into the diesel tank. this morning i found another two ticks on Goldy's head and i've decide to THROW that bottle of chemical spray away since it does not work. actually it scares me when i read the lable. do u know that we catergories our registered poisons into 5 groups? from 1a, 1b, 2, 3 and 4. and our aerosol spray, tick poison is catergorise under class 4. but when i read the instructions, they'll ask u to wear gloves when using it (for some chemical, that include some tick poison as i remember) sounds very scarry. as i said..... to USE........or NOT to USE....... that's really hard to decide.

u know, actually i'm the kind of very "jeen gark" (cantonese) ppl. when weekend comes, my body will tell me that "it's time to get some good rest" but later my mind will tell me "hey! it's weekend and u have two days off, so keep awake and have some fun activities" and i'll go to bed very late like about 2-3 am and wake up at 8-9am (my "biology" clock is set to wake up at this time, no alarm clock is needed). and ended up even worse on Monday.

oh my... siddenly i miss the assam laksa at Jalan Penang near Komtar...... HELP! i really miss the food!

Re: [makrawl] *Mak's chat zone*

yup..sueddenly realised that bayticol poisonous kan? me too tats why i dun do it..juz once or twice a mth. scary also coz after u soak them your hand feels 'hot' as though the chemical's burning your hands..worse still if u have bruises & cuts. 2 ticks oni..u catchlah..coz cathing will really reduce it..last time i catch everyday till no more ticks n no i'm doing the same to the fleas but of course it's hard coz they jump..but still trying my best

wah 'jeen gark' , is tat how u label yourself? me hmm..hope that weekend comes get to sleep late also but usually won't coz used to waking up at 10am..sometimes i still sleep till 2pm..like nowadays when i'm having exams but i'll feel lazy..so muz wake up early to study..Frown

wah..u consider 2-3am late? what do u do tat time? i normally sleep after 3am..like u said biological clock..heheTongue

what u want me to do about the assam laksa? wan me to bring from Pg to u? coz i'm coming this weekend?Crazy

Re: [mieliki] *Mak's chat zone*

puppys or dogs, when they r left alone, the might behave very different from what they usually r. my dogs r acting like that. if they r left alone, my dearie Goldy will pee at the wrong place and beauty will dig the garden. but recently i give them beefhides and that keeps them busy and things improve. tearing papers or whatever is normal. pups r pups, they r a bit naughty sometimes. so since she chews on the papers, just remove it.

as for the jumping and biting, it is better to use the positive training method to train her about what is a good behaviour and what is a "no no". for my case, they like to jump on me too. so what i do is, i'll order them to sit down (before this, make sure she know the command of SIT) quietly and i'll pet, praise or give them some treats. ignore them when they jump on u and walk away. soon they'll realise that by jumping to me, they don't get what they r expecting (pat, praise or treats) so now, they just sit down and wait instead of jumping like mad. but remember, GIVES COMMAND ONLY ONCE. don't act like my cousin. when he wants his dog to sit, he'll shouted "SIT! SIT! SIT!........." for infinity times. that's so NOISY. i give command once (it works most of the time) and in a low and soft tone coz i hate shouting. well, i think it's time for u to buy some quality books to read on the good training methods.

Re: [makrawl] *Mak's chat zone*

MAkrawl & Nathalie,

Well, she's not all that bad.. I did consider sending her for OB classes, but have no idea where to get any. MKA seems to be asking that we join as member before we can attend their classes. All I want is just the training *sigh* Any recommendations?

Let's see.. never considered her a destructive monster.. just a puppy with her devil horns hidden. Tongue Still waiting for her jabs to complete then will bring out to sociallise more often and then attend OB classes when and if I can find any.

I'm working at the moment. Thankfully my workplace's just 5 mins walk to/from home. So during breaktime, I'd walk back and check on her. So far today she surprised me with her unusually quiet mood. Maybe she can sense her bathday later today and vet visit tomorrow.. lovely..

Re: [nooning] *Mak's chat zone*

ning,

let me help u a bitlah..wif my knowledge huh..sorry;ah quite limited....

1. ACS has longer coat than ECS? true???

ACS normally have curly coat...very tight curls..so when u comb it straight it tend to look longer while ECS's hair normally wavy & not so curly..only part if their body's hair is long eg, hind l;egs, below the tummy area..with fringes on the legs & hands

2. Does both share d same body structure n outlook just that their coat is different? like golden ret n lab.

not entirely true coz in terms of height, ECS is taller..n comparatively ECS looks more muscular while ACS's compact & body's shorter n lower compared to ECS. in addition ACS has a shorter muzzle while ECS has longer skull & muzzle

3. Does both shed as much? even more than lab that sheds whole yr loooooooooong Unsure

generally CS do shed but the hair's normally not so fine like lab's hair...usually for long haired dogs they shed 2 times a year. with proper grooming however they'll shed less.

4. which 1 of ACS n ECS is more common n easily found in Msia? R they around d same price?

Nowadays CS regardless of ECS or ACS is a growing trend in M'sia. the market for ECS w/out cert is big n usually ECS wit or w/out cert's price is lower than an ACS. As for ACS, lately there are quite a number in KL..ACS costs more generally coz a pure breed ACS with cert is rarer compared to ECS.

5. r their temperament same???

Temperament wise almost the same but with ACS u require more grooming due to the curly hair which easily gets tangled.

hope it helpsSmile

Re: [nooning] *Mak's chat zone*

well, i think nathalie had answer most of your Qs here. but just to let u know that actually ACS and ECS share the same ancestors. ECS was brought to US and they breed them according to what they prefer and slowly this group of CS differ out from what their cousins look like at Europe. and they finnaly put in another group and seperate out from ECS at the 1940s.

so, it is not surprise that they r very similar both in appearance and temperament. but i keep ECS coz they r more easy to get, coat is shorter (less trimming), and they r CHEAPER too. be prepare as CS have drooping ears and u really need to clean the ears more frequent as compare to other dogs. they also need lots of space to strecth their legs. they really enjoy running and they also VERY EAGER to join in any activities and company (especially from u). they r compact but very tough and active. lots of ppl got " fool" by looking to their "pity" eyes (coz by loose skin) and thought they r quiet and later they regret as CSs r TOO energetic! i have two and with only 12 kg, they nearly knock me down when they didn't see me and bashed on my leg while running. temperament is extremely good but make sure u have enough activities to keep them busy or else they'll over turn your house. sufficient excercise is necessary as when a CS has too much energy at the end of the day, they might give u trouble.

i think u better get a book and learn the standard of the dog before purchasing any dog. see the sire and dam too if u can.

hope these helps and enjoy the lovely life with ECS later.

Re: [makrawl] *Mak's chat zone*

ooo, looks like lab & GR along wit ECS n ACS does hav lot's of similarity. Share same ancestors n very similar both in appearance and temperament.

wow, that's pretty unxpected, i nvr tot ECS r as boisterious as lab. ECS is indeed more active than ACS then? It's ok 2 me anyhow, if i can manage 2 bring my 35kg big buffolo 4 walks everyday, a ECS around 10kg shouldn't b a problem.

mind tellin me around how much u paid 4 each of ur dogs? r they siblings?

O, last Q, is it really necessary 2 trim ECS? will its coat go out of shape if i dun bring it 2 d groomer?

Re: [nooning] *Mak's chat zone*

i can't tell which is more active between them coz i never had an ACS before but one thing for sure, they r GUNDOG and it means they r hunters and they r good at it. so they have "endless" energy.

Goldy was given to me for free by someone. he said he bought him for rm1200. Beauty came from a breeder and i paid 800 for her.

it is always better to trim their fur. actually not much to be trimed. just the excessive hairs on the ears, head, legs only. i do it myself. the ears r important as i trim the fur so that it improve air circulation of the ears to prevent any infection. they won't look terrible is u don't trim them but it is worth to do so as everytime after grooming, my dogs will look SO "ADORABLE" to me.

Re: [nooning] *Mak's chat zone*

sorry for the intrusion, but i would like to pen down some info on these 2 beautiful breeds. the English Cocker Spaniel and the Cocker Spaniel (they dont actually carry the name AMERICAN Cocker Spaniel anymore. just plain simple Cocker Spaniel)

The Cocker Spaniel was recognized in America in 1846 and while the larger countrpart English Cocker Spaniel was only recognized in 1946 thats technically more than a century. But England recognized the ECS in the year 1892 and the CS in year 1893. so basically the americans would say the CS is better and the Englishmen would say that the ECS is better. no ending debate to this and i dun wanna go there.

One of the oldest types of land spaniel known, the Cocker Spaniel descended from the original spaniels of Spain. but back the the sizes varried too much. there were known facts that the CS and the ECS were shown together in the same category. due to personal interest it was at the mention dates that they were separated. the americans always wanted superiority so that is why the early date that the so calleed ACS was recognized as a pure breed and the ECS was much later.

generally both these dogs share the same coloration and character traits. Size alone was the main dividing factor between them.

the CS will be about 10kg while the ECS tips the scale at 14kg (weights are based on male dogs and only a guideline) Both dogs were cultivated for different usage. the CS being smaller made good retrieving around compact bushes while retreiving woodcock. the CS was used more for flushing out woodcocks and retreiving them once the prey is shot down. they readily take to water and do retreive woodcock from water as well.

the ECS on the other hand does better on uphill terrain and open vast land as they could cover more ground faster. this is the brief history on these two breeds.

As household pets...... they are both great. i have more detailed write ups on their history but sorry to malas to type.

my dua sen..

even if it's me i prefer ECSloh....so much easier to maintain..however in both cases...their high activity's somehwat similiar. both also gun dogs mah, so sure very hyper wan...it's inevitable. hmmm..do some research especially if u are buying one without cert to ensure it's sire & dam are pure...it should not cost u more than 1.5k even if it's with cert...unless again if it's some champion or showline...

noloh, juz entertain loh coz most of the ppl i met up also puppy.com frensmah. however iut's my habit to sleep late..except now that i'm ill.

shop near where i live oniloh..1 utama most frequented...3-4 times , ikano 2 times MV once but almost 10 hours shopping there..hehe. some more the flea market in mont. kiaraloh..they have lots of very nice accessories there..Smile

maybe i'm just admiring my own trimming scale.Blush

by the way, that's a sleeping dog? or a slipper dog? or IS THAT A DOG on that photo?

if u r busy ppl that have no time to trim, maybe u can try on Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. I LOVE THEM but my "wallet hates" them. CKCS only need trimming at the pads only! my, so easy.

Re: [makrawl] *Mak's chat zone*

i have own both breeds before. my research was not for the sake of comparison but i was just curious about their orign thats all. My personal experience is both the breeds are similar in character and traits. the difference i find is the CS is more energetic and harder to train as compared to the ECS. In othe words they are naughtier. but that is just based on a few dogs so i think it should not be a base or fact at all.

Yes i have 2 CS at the moment. The boy is 4 years old and the girl is 3 years old. The reason why i went with CS is because I have a small home and i love spaniels so they were my only option. (toy breeds are not my cup of tea)

hello..heard ppl mentioning my dogs wor...Angelic

not yet penyek coz she'll kena ass spanking if she misbehaves or she hurt teddy..she's very rough but we r teching her manners on how to be a gentle woman..not a unleashed bullLaugh

actually accidents do happen..sometimes she din see teddy she'll juz step on teddy n there he starts crying..she dun care wan..if she wan 2 move she'll juz walk..dun care if u dun give her a way or not.

but it's interesting to have 2 breeds esp diffrent size at home..it's kinda cute to see their different bahaviours Smile

hi paulynn,

i'm one of the player from the Chinese Orchestra. i play er-hu and still joining various orchestras during their performance after my graduation from school coz i love it. hope i didn't make u yawn..... actually chinese orchestra is developing in another direction from the westerner's music industry where it is not familiar to our ppl. because of this, they tense to like having this feeling like "err..... it sounds kindoff old fashion....." but it's not if u really listen carefully. well, it's all about understanding. Smile

the most recent concert that i performed was the "Rythmn of Yue" at DBKL during July... if u've ever notice that from the papers.

maybe i'll talk more if u like to listen about it.

by the way, nice to *meet* u.

Re: [paulynn] *Mak's chat zone*

so what instrument u r playing?

er-hu is easy to learn IF u put enough effort on it. and the price is not expensive compare to piano. coz the range is from rm300 (anything below 300 is just wasting your money-no sound quality at all) till RMxxxxx is available. usually i'll get the range between RM1500 till RM2000. it's affortable and the quality is good as well. and i can recommend some good quality teacher to u if u r interested (only if u r staying in Klang Valley). i don't teach coz i have no time and i don't have patience with HUMAN (strange.... i have very good patience with my dogs.....) the next instrument that i would like to learn is..... "pi-pa" but still can't tear myself off from the job.

Re: [makrawl] *Mak's chat zone*

sorry mate, just check in from my trip. Got back only on Monday 5.35am but was showing my brit mate around before he jets off to dubai-uk. Only got home (asin the HOME not the bachelorette's pad!) on wednesday...and u know..unpacking and all that!

Yeh i've been thinknig of getting one and "self teach" first since i've been learning music since i was young and wouldn't mind trying myself first then only get a prof to teach moi.

I play (accordingly mind you!!) the piano, violin, guitar (not prof but hey..), drums(still learning from my drummer and self) and self learning flute. Believe me i aint any good !

Re: [kesuke] *Mak's chat zone*

oh nooo way...spanish and french are really really related ..never think that spanish's easier jsut because everyone says that! they're really similiar like "pour quoi-why" in french..in spanish its "pour qui" ....they're really related..that's why i thoguht that after french spanish WOULD be easy for me .

I've never once thought that learning any language would be easy because leraning new things in life are never easy :)

Re: [paulynn] *Mak's chat zone*

hi.

well, i think it's better to get someone to learn the basic skills first then only u'll learn by yourself. coz if the basic is wrong... u'll find it hard to improve in future.

Re: [makrawl] *Mak's chat zone*

dont mean to sound rude or anything but u're quite patronizing yourself and i never like people giving me advises that puts me off.. I've been a music student since i was 5yo and i'm not as dense as u think i am when it comes to self learning an instrument. Anyone who has the tinniest common sense knows that basic skills are the vital key to perfection. I'm a music teacher too so please, i KNOW the basics. Dont get me started with improvement because i KNOW what i'm doing.

Re: [paulynn] *Mak's chat zone*

well, it's just a little opinion from me and i never have any intension to instruct or order anyone to follow my opinion and thinking that other ppl know NOTHING about music. (in fact, everyone is born with sense of music)

dear, music is a pleasure to enjoy. so, calm down.

Good Day

Re: [makrawl] *Mak's chat zone*

i just got a 2 yo black labrador to stay with me. MACK.

a very happy go lucky dog.

any experience to share with me on lab?? coz this is the first time i keep a dog with this size. and gee.... he really eats a lot!

one more thing..... he gets very very excited when i shouted "NO"! when i caught him doing wrong things. he thought i was playing with him. and..... he likes to pick my socks or slippers away from me and wait for me to chase after him.... (which i won't! but don't know what to do) even when i call him politely to come over.... he'll come about a feet away from me and bow in front of me and get ready to jump back as i approach (he is waiting for that!). and..... he likes to chase after my water hose to drink when i water my garden plants... a splash at the face will make him even want more! does your lab likes water as much as mine????

Hmm..... i wonder.
