Agility Party Can't Post

Hiya people, would anyone be interested in a Dog Agility Party? Perhaps hosted on a Saturday so it doesn't clash with MKA Obedience training or dog show...

If we can get a decent group, it'd be fun to set up some jumps and obstacles and have some fun and games with our furkids Cool

Participants can sponsor either food or prizes for the games... I can bring home-made jumps... and anyone who has experience in dog agility pls give your ideas !

We can organize all the games on lead, so dogs don't run off if they are not trained to the level yet, and owners can have some exercise too then! We could also do some team games where dog and owner teams have to finish the course in order, b4 next team member starts, etc..,

Let me know what you guys think - if enough support, we can think about setting a date & venue.

I'm in!! Fully support this. I could bring in dog treats as prize. As for food, we could chip in or have some sort of a pot luck. Most important is that we have fun Sly

If the response is good, how about a day's trip to PD? Could set up the agility stuffs on the beach. Also play with the dogs in the sea. Anyone? Cool

Am sure Rex will be superb at it... labbies are one of the best breeds for agility! Cool

my hubby will be so jealous, he wants a retriever so bad!

Hi Mr Khoo, great you can make it! But I think I'll need your help organizing, coz i haven't done this before... also, we don't have a venue yet. Do you know of a venue we could use for this? A dog friendly field big enough to set up some jumps and obstacles?

Oh, more ideas for obstacles: I think I might be able to get a tunnel from a toy shop as well - so we have more variety of obstacles. If not, we can always make them out of cardboard boxes...

Re: [kbs] Agility Party [In reply to] Can't Post

hiya, no prob... we can run all the games ON leash. I don't think i could handle juno without a leash either, not in a public place, but since most of us have not done that much agility, we don't have to build the jumps so high etc, so we can do some jumping ourselves to encourgae our dogs.

Cool you are up for it!

Anyone like to suggest a date? How about Saturday 9th Nov, or Saturday 23rd? 23rd might give us more time to plan and get more equipment ready...

A day trip will just be fine as quite a number of us who are attending obedience training will not be free on Sunday. It will be fun to let the doggie play at the beach and play some simple agility stuff.

I guess all of us can organize together. No need to have complicated stuff, just some simple obstacle, tunnels to try out our doggie. Since most of our dogs have not been trained for agility, it is definitely fun to try. As for the venue, how about a day trip to PD as suggested by Jason ?

Hello,

Kiddi say she would like to join also but do not know whether she will be good....

IMHO, we better avoid public holidays as there will be crowded in PD!

Looking forward it.

I guess no one has proposed a better place so far. A place in KL or PJ is always nearer and better.

Would love to propose a date, but the only thing left is the venue... we haven't found a venue yet in KL / PJ that is dog friendly. I will maybe try to speak with MKA people about the Padang Merbuk field, or get them involved too... or if anyone else knows them better than i do, they might be the better person to speak to MKA?

Re: [luckey] Agility Party [In reply to] Can't Post

hi Luckey,

Yes, pls. check with MKA stuff first. Alternatively, the *last* option would be the lake side of Kota Kemuning (huh? where? )Unsure. Well, I put it as last option because of the followings:

1. It could be too far off PJ/Cheras/KL area. Kota Kemuning is in Shah Alam district, about 10 KM from Subang/USJ.

2. There's a lake! ..Though the scenary is nice and cool..but I'm afraid certain dogs may dive for the water!

3. In the evening (typically weekends) 5-7 p.m, quite a no. of casual walkers there. Some of them walk with their dogs too. So, might create a stir! I'm not too sure about Sat/Sun morning though..

4. I hope this piece of land is not under MPSA as there's no sign board saying so. And, as mentioned, people walk their dogs there too.

Hey maybe Kota Kemuning might be an idea... is there a big enough space such that we can set up some jumps and obstacles for our dogs and maybe have some dog and human races?

I don't know how big is your setup.. But it's larger than the training ground in Padang merbuk.

haha... no i'm not kidding!
since our doggies can't go off leash yet, owners will hvae to run as much and as fast as their dogs when doing the course!

Thought we could split up into teams or something and have a race of sorts... with prizes
