Hi jaz,
I have just asked a question about using Frontline to cure ticks problems. Then only I chance upon this topic. Is Garlic Bread sufficient? I never know that Garlic is a solution. Any brand of garlic pills will you recommend other than the Frontline product?

hi
Why not use natural garlic cloves instead?
You can try giving it to your furkid about twice a week, and about 1-2 cloves each time depending on the size of your doggie.
My dog won't eat it himself cause of the smell so I cut the clove into half and I'll just chuck it to the back of his throat. (sounds cruel but that's how u feed them their medication too and dogs can swallow chunks of stuff unlike us...)

hello people!!
trouble getting your doggies to eat garlic eh?? here's what i've found....hope you guys find it useful.
Flea Hater's Dog Biscuits
Makes about 5 dozen bone biscuits 1 cup flour 1/4 cup wheat germ 1/4 cup brewer’s yeast (available at health-food stores) 1 teaspoon salt 1 tablespoon plus 1 1/2 teaspoons canola oil 1 clove garlic, chopped medium 1/2 cup chicken stock plus 3 tablespoons for basting
1. Heat oven to 400 degrees. Line a sheet pan with parchment paper. Mix flour, wheat germ, brewer’s yeast, and salt together in a medium bowl. In a mixing bowl, combine oil and garlic. Alternately add 1/2 cup chicken stock and flour mixture in 3 parts; mix until well combined. Knead about 2 minutes by hand on floured surface; dough will be sticky.
2. On a lightly floured surface, roll dough out about 3/8 inch thick. Cut out bone shapes; place on prepared baking sheet. Bake 10 minutes, rotate baking sheet, and baste with remaining 3 tablespoons chicken stock. Bake 10 minutes longer. Turn off oven, leaving oven door closed. Leave pan in oven for 1 1/2 hours longer

hi there,
yeap, it does.
naah...not everyday.
Depending on the size of your dog, i think for a GR, 1 medium-large clove every 2-3 days should suffice. If you want more..perhaps alternate days? not too sure abt the alternate day though. ,-._,-. \/)"(\/ (_o_)

One "crushed" clove every 2 or 3 days is sufficient lar ... otherwise your Billy become Garlic Head ... and then get attacked by weird pointy eared chicken ...

Hello Amanda ...
Your dog seem to still be having trouble with ticks ...
A little recap ...
(a) Garlic helps because a dog fed regularly with garlic, exudes oils that help to repel ticks - this is not a 100% solution! ... A dog eating garlic can still get ticks.
And please do not overfeed garlic to your dog.
(b) I recall from a previous post that you have already purchased FrontLine ... I assume that you have applied FrontLine on your dog's body ...
Please remember not to spray FrontLine into the dog's ear ... FrontLine is meant to be used on the dog's coat only.
(c) If you have applied FrontLine properly - that should get rid of the ticks on the dog's body.
If after all the above - your dog still has ticks - then chances are your garden is infested with ticks ...
You need to do something about the garden or your dog will continue to have ticks everytime the FrontLine weakens ...
Suggested Solution:
*** Get a pesticide that destroys ticks - such as TACTIC from your vet (some pet shops carry this product) ... and apply it to your garden.
*** Please follow all instructions carefully, tick pesticides are poisonous ... If you are not sure what to do - get someone with experience to assist you ...
*** Unless you remove the source of the ticks - your dog will continue to be tick infested no matter what you do.
Ticks are vectors for many diseases and can cause allergies ... so please do something about the tick infestation on your dogs.

*** Hi ya RealityDreamer ... since you are busy with your exams - will kapo here and give a hand ...
Hello Amanda ...
Kinki is about 5 months old ... and is still a young dog ... and I assume that Kinki is also little dog (mixed terrier).
You can crush the garlic and cook (crushing the garlic is good - because that releases the active ingredients in the garlic) ... then mix cooked garlic into her food ... that should be fine ... one clove 2 or 3 times a week should be sufficient ...
Garlic is a stable element of our dog's diet ... and they get some every week ... ...
Cheers
