Dog Licence	Can't Post

Any updated rules & regulations on getting your dog a licence?

Please share your knowledge here based on different states/residential areas in terms of the fee, procedures & documents required....etc.

Hi Ying,

MPPJ - just bring RM 10 go to MPPJ and put down your dog & owner details on one of the pink slip paper. Hand it in, wait for a receipt, line up again to pay RM 10 then go back to the earlier counter to collect the licence. That's all !

hi there,
quite easy in Penang, in fact. we just fill in the form in MPPP, breed, name, owner's name, address....etc. THe form is FOC.
Pay RM10 and get a tag with receipt back. Just a 5 minutes process.

As for as I know, MPPJ only applies to places like PJ, Bandar Sri Damansara, Kepong (I think) and Sungai Buloh as they falls under the MPPJ's jurisdiction.

Hie,

All dog license for PENANG can be purchase at the MPPP office at the building opposite Fort Cornwallis. I think butterworth also part of penang so must be can also Smile

Easy to buy but you will have to put the address as a landed property. Not an adress for apartment or flat, then they wont issue you a license Smile

Hi there,

To apply doggy license from MPK, all u need is to get a pink colour form from them, fill in the details, pay a RM 10, than submit to the counter and straightaway u'll get the license together with a official receipt!

MPSJ - Subang

1. Buy a form for RM 1 each if its ur first application

2. Get ur VET to verify, sign & chop that ur dog is fit and in the same form they will ask a few particulars about the owner and also ur house space.

3. Bring the completed form and also your vaccination card(ensure that the vaccination is still valid on the day of applying the license)

4. The counter ppl will process it and you will collect a form and pay RM 15 per dog at 'kaunter bayaran'

5. Go back to the same counter and get the license tag and a some kind of paper(like a cert).

6. The cert will be required for the next year's license application so that you can skip step 1 & 2

7. Ensure that ur dog wears it all the time or they will leave a note in ur letter box.... hehe Wink

Errrm.. yes we do, we even share the same room.. problem is, I usually work quite late every night in my office.. by the time I reach home, she'll be sleeping like a pig dee!!! execpt weekends.. and even on Saturdays at times I still have to work.. not much time to sit down and ask since she's always out with her friends too!!! Is it true that lately, if u want to have a dog and if your neighbours are muslim, you have to ask their permission first? Some one told me that this is publised in the newspaper. Not sure true or not.
And in Klang, in order to get license, they will ask how big is your compound.
As for my Subang, they are quite strict in the sense that they need the vet's signature and chop.
What if, doodle gets MPSJ license but sometimes goes to Klang for visit?
They really check until so detailed ah? that they will put inside the letter box? WAH!

Hello...I am from JB and my parents said that it is true that you have to get consent from your muslim neighbours if u wana get licence. We didn't bother lar, coz our dogs are in the backyard and we dun let our dogs out of the house unattended. It's quite susah lar, if you wanna get permission from your neighbours..but my neighbours are ok lar, malay also but very nice.

Hahahha for me, simple. Pay rm 10 to my youngest brother and ask him to 'kau tim' at the end of the day i got the license from mpsp. no question been asked, can be done in post office too. this year is the second year i have bonney wiht me, i don even know where to get this license thingy. Blush

I think it should be same for Penang and butterworth

Go to your nearest city council
Find the licensing department
Ask for the form (address must be a landed property)
Pay Rm 10
You get your license!!

This is totally up to the individual owner. But my personal view is yes, it is necessary. This will allow you to bring your dog outdoor. U still can bring your dog out without the license, but if those MPPP/MPSP fellows come to u then that's the end.

if you're walking your dogs outside(with leash) and they just walk up to you to see if the dogs have licence,and if they don't,you'll be in trouble? or if your dogs in the hse(behind the gate,in the garden/house) n the ring the bell just to come in to check? will they do that? Crazy

It is not the matter of "inside or outside the house", a license is a license, a dog-owner need to get his dog a license. E.g. Whether you are wandering on the street or stay at home 24/7, you need to have IC once you reach the age of 12. But it is up to you to keep in your wallet? or in your drawer. You don't bring along your IC with you, not a problem until a policeman check on you. Hope you get the idea.

I understand what you are trying to say , but getting an IC for human is not as difficult as getting one for dog. (actually, getting an IC when you lost one can be very troublesome also)

I guess what realitydreamer or what I felt is that I can't help thinking it is so troublesome to get a dog license with all those rules and regulations now like getting a permission from neighbours. Some even have to get doctor's permission. Sometimes these requires alot of money too.

My question is, do they check very regularly? until ring the door bell? If my dog doesn't make trouble to others, can we just live peacefully without having a license?

Yeah... truely understood that for some residential areas, it's very troublesome to get the license. of course, if your dog stay inside the house, the license seems "useless" and not neccessary. But to me, I rather go tru the pain to get a license instead of challenge the pain to lose my dog if anything really happen ONE day accidentally and I just have NO say to it.

Or, don't get a dog if you can't even get a license for him (i mean.... via some "lubang" Tongue

, always, there's tricks Tongue

). Just be patient... one day, when you are affordable, stay a better (dog frenly) place for you and your dogs. you happy, he happy, the neighbors happy.

To answer your question, NO, they don't come and ring my door bell regularly, but ONCE.

That time ur dog got license? So they just see it and left lar? they didn't say other things?
Speaking of having a dog difficulties, who knows next time having a dog must have a dog sign at the gate. *Shrug

There was one time, my home shar pei ran out and some neighbour complained. So the dog catcher really came and took my dog away. Luckily, i was just reaching home and saw them. (it was my mom who accidently let him out and quite often does that. Very angry at her! Mad

) Then my mom gave them RM10 each and that's the end of story. We got our dog back. With or without license. He has license but weren't wearing it. ( Dogs seem to feel irritated to wear the dog license)

Since i was young, and sicne we knew there's a thing called dog license, we ill ensure our dogs have them on the choke chain. One more thing, a dog license doesn't mean your dog can roam around freely out from your premises. He still has to be on leashed when out of the premises. I really don't know why will have the debate or question on if it is a MUST to have dog license, coz this is what required by the law. You don't have it for your dog, it would be fine to you maybe... especially when nothing bad happen. If thing get worse, you cant blame anyone to take your dog away and fine you. To me, I do what I should do. At least I "meet" the minimum requirement interms of the safety and protection for my dogs.

Dog licence is the reason so many stray dogs dont get shoot in Penang. ALOT of penang strays has got a licence tied around their neck by a rafia string but they dont belong to anyone. There are ppl out there that care enough for these strays and get them licence so that they can continue their life. Smile

i have a question...

is there a limit on how many license an individual can apply??

i have 3 dogs but i only get 2 licenses(due to the 1 house 2 dogs policy)...if i apply more than 2,i scare the officers may ask questions..and recently,i just adopted 2 doggies..so now..what should i do??apply for 2 licenses or 5 licenses?

btw,do the officers have any right to enter the house??

Hello,

I know a friend who owns about 9 dogs but he'll only buy 3 license per year. He'll hang it on the porch so the spca/mppp ppl can see it easily without entering the house. He'll just let the dog he plan to take out wear the licenses.

I think it's possible for us to buy up to 3 license, but i do not know about rules at other places..i think some part of kl they only allows 2 dogs.. Smile

The rules and regulations are clearly stated on the dog license application form itself. Follow the rules and you will be safe. Cool

According to the rules, we are not to bring our dog to recreation parks and other public areas like the shopping malls. We are not even suppose to have a dog if we live in an apartment or condor. There are a few other regulations to follow. Unsure

Although the rules are clearly stated, alot of people still break those rules everyday. Some may be not know about the regulations, or just simply playing with their luck. I think it still depends on your local council and the law enforcers if they really go by the rules. We will only get into trouble when people enforces the rules. Be nice to your neighbors ! Smile

would like to know more on this license thingy, in Penang, is it still somewhere near the Fort Cornvallis area? Or is it at Komtar?

Secondly, any idea on how old for a dog to be eligible to apply for a license??

Any new rules/revision so far until today?? And can apply up to two dogs?

hi,

it has moved from komtar to fort conwallis d.....

no eligible age...according to them as long as u have a dog, u need a license. even if ur dog stays indoors...it's safer to get a licence in case u bring them for a walk.

apply for 2 dogs, can...up to 4 dogs for landed property.....or u can just put ur wife's name for the 2nd dog if u live in an apartment. they don't really care or check.....u can even get someone to buy it for u on ur behalf. just fill in the forms n attach RM10...that's all Smile

sometimes the license plate will only be ready on March or May, don't really when is the right time to apply.

I go to MPPJ,they ask me to go Subang, I go Subang, they ask me to go to KL,so I gave up and did not have license for my dog for many years,after all I m staying in an aperment, but I use mum's address to apply lah,

Anybody can tel when is the right time to get the license ?

this is my puggy hiley�the notorious onelah! hehehe am staying in condo and so afr so good ler. but think they should allow toy breed like they do in penang, read from newspaper but got breed specification. so happen my uncle lives in of of the condo there and said he saw even working breeds Crazy

am a bit worry leh cos my upstairs neighbour's malay�but got once the security saw hiley in my condo (my guest left the front door open) and asked if it's my own unit, said yes and he left.

think should be ok but just not too bising lor, they take action only if got complain. everyday pray hard hiley will behave.

where does ur mum live? if it's subang then apply under MPSJ. best time to get license is starting of the year. i doubt that it'll be ready only on March or May though, coz licenses change at the start of the year.. January, that is. got my dog's license 3 months ago from MPSJ and got it on the same day we apply for it.

I stay in Bdr Sunway, went to MPPJ, got the license on the same day in less than 1/2 hr. Quite easy to get.

The area I stay in Bdr Sunway is under MPPJ. The Sunway Pyramid side is under MPSJ. Don't ask me why like that. Crazy

only those MP people can explain Sly

. I also wish I can go to MPSJ, easier parking. The license also very cheap, RM10 only. You have to renew the license every year.

normally they will not take any actions unless there are neighbours complaining about it. in penang i've even seen a golden rtv in an apartment.....it's ok as long as they are quiet but i'm sure hiley is quiet as generally pugs don't really bark, right? my fren have a pom n a jack russell in her apartment Smile

usually she's ok�but samseng cos very spoilt by me and hubby. thought of getting one more doggy.

i heard from my uncle, there are working breeds like gsd and doberman in his condo too! i saw one big fury doggy last weekend when i was at his penang place. hmmm�i hope they think about their doggies's welfare too.

she grew up with jackie(pug), ruby(rott) and molly(gsd) at mum's place. use to stay with my family before kahwin lor�now with hubby at condo. still bring her home as my mum misses her alot. jackie's under my mum n sis jaga cos he'll pee every corner!!! rescued him from stupid owner who put him under the sun, surrounded with fierce dogs, only got freedom at night for an hour. he's very different (used to be loner) but adorable�6 or 7 years old�

hiley loves smelly cloth/baju�always masuk my laundry basket Mad

!!!

maybe got gathering in penang, let teddy play with our doggies lor�hiley always stick to me too but if angry, she'll boycott ler�terror one.

your lab can eat so much hor�sure fat and cute. must see. teddy�oh he like nice packaging is it? wah lipstick also he attack ah? keep your perfume away�maybe he wants to be groomed so can khau lui mah!!!

hehehe our fur babies are all so manja�brought hiley to the vet and same thing on the termometer issue but didn't bite lah, she just turn her butt to the vet and hug me tight lor�then the vet gave her a jab which he said it'll hurt a bit but since hiley's so manja and kwai lan at home she didn't make a single sound! Cool

i have not heard hiley cry or upset but angry got lah�

wah teddy so aggresive hoh�garang lor!!! but he so small leh� Cool

upset, sometimes teddy feels really tired & sleepy after his jab,

he'll even cry after a few hours when i accidentally touch his jab area...wonder is it really so painful?

actually teddy is a very quiet, girly good boy. he'll not attack u unless u harm him or me coz he's a protective baby. so don't have to fear teddy'll attack hiley unless hiley starts attacking teddy first Smile

on the way to vet�hiley's super hyper cos get to be in the car for kai kai�hehehe�dunno going to visit her greatest enemy!!! but when sampai, she'll chicken out lah�force her then get mad with me and run to my hubby. but hor when he force med to her, she'll hate him too. at the end both also she boycott lor and can get angry for days!!! so true about 'fat lan char' thingy�hiley's weird in a way especially when she's so attach to me and like no one can replace lor. the first day i brought her home she slept in my room and woke me up at 6.30am. at that time i was having my final and working partime. my mum'll jaga her till i come home�but at such young age she knows alot. later, kahwin and had to leave for australia�but when i came home she still remember am her master/slave!!!! but over the time she has picked up alot from human's attitude�without much training she understands us and our commands!!!!

but when i brought her back to our new home�there she goes with lots of attitude Mad

!!!! think she intepretes us at times�ai yo i wanna snap pics when she naik marah and sure you can see the difference one!!!!! Mad

she's very girly except when she's into her torture mood�dun worry will find out if got any magic portion or miracle jab to keep them calm�hehehe!

booster/ meaning she's quite young nialoh izzit? hey, she's terror huh never make a sound. my lab's really fine with vaccines coz she loves to go to the vet, whenever she reaches there the vets n the assistants really like her coz she's very 'fat' hehee..then suddenly she kena jab but she does not even notice it also..never cry after the jab also..

if teddy means he never allow strangers to hold him so i have to be there or else they'll kena gigit..it's gonna be january again meaning annual booster sudah sampai..have to take him to the vet again Shocked

nolah...i don't think teddy will play coz he does not like to play but juz like to go 'kai kai' n being cuddled..that's all Smile

roll newspaper to teach her also later she'll attack it especially those that are still in good condition!!!! she'll hunt for it at my yard area!!!! at times i really can't believe her�like human�understand and know alot but when jahat, sure ignore one� Mad

Yeah! I will remember that. That was the only time he growled at me. When he did that I ignored him for almost 1/2 hr. I read from a dog book, ignoring your dog is enough punishment. well� all i can say is that am kinda lucky to have one baby that doesn't chew on wood or else for furniture all gone! but she'll choose toys, not all she'll play�sua ku and sam pat lor. dental bone or dog treats she doesn't like�baju, door stopper, umbrella she loves! Crazy

. she'll not bite or naik garang when take her toys but she'll try her best to get back no matter how�ngau ching� Unsure

me too must be around if hiley's sakit or else she'll be angry. but not to the extend she gigit lor�just turn her head way from the vet�but stupid also cos expose her buttock to the vet�easy work!!!!! Laugh

don't worry usually they can handle small dogs well�but big working breeds they sure takut no matter how experience. brought my female rott to the vet and they masked her muzzle, takut kena gigit. but my rott babe very well behave and friendly lor�bite me only lor�the tlc bite!!!

Yeah! You have a headache there alrite. I'm not sure if you'll agree with this. My fren stays in a condo also, she applied her dog license using her parents address which is a landed property. Maybe you can try this. One thing is her mgmt did not tell her not to have pets. Anyway, good luck!

which area are you staying ?

It's better that you borrow your friend's address if they are staying at landed property....I will use my mum's adderss....in Balakong and I was advice to go to MPSJ.but MPSJ had a new rule.....u must get your neigbour's approval/signature to allow you to have dog....wondering why only applied to dog lover and not cat lover, they are also many cats cause confusion and trouble to ppl....

I just got the license from DBKL today.this year is GREEN...just simply write one KL address,they never check my IC...actually wanted to buy two, but was told that terrace house cannot have two dogs,only Bungalo & Factory can have 2 dogs...."CHI.SHIN" one.Some more one LAIN LAIN column...if I tick LAIN LAIN & write CONDO...don't know if he will reject my application ?

Gong Xi Fa Cai!!! I have a good news to you all. I went to the Majlis Perbandaran Selayang and asked about the dog licence. They told me that those staying under the Selayang Area don't have to apply for the dog licence. We are allowed to have 2 dogs in one house and that we have to make sure that our dogs won't go out by themselves and keep them clean.

Absolutely no problems in PJ. I think you need to bring along her up-to-date vaccination certificate, a photo (of the dog, not you), RM10, fill in a form, and queue up for ages. No idea how many you can have though. You need to go to the MPPJ counter in the building next to the Civic Hall, not the Menara MPPJ.

This is the MPPJ number I used the last time I called over a year ago. See if it works: 79604667.

I printed a photo out from a jpg file. forgot the size. Not I/C sizelah., but I'm not sure if they have any definite specifications.

Don't know about the number of dogs. There's nothing to stop you from applying for two licences. Then going back a week later to get another one. I don't think they keep track, but don't quote me on this.

Where'd you get your schnauzie from?

You should in theory be able to download the application form here: www.mbpj.gov.my/ - and all the things you need to bring with you will be stated quite clearly on the form. Click the e-Perkhidmatan tab, then the e-Borang tab, and click the Permohononan Lesen Anjing link.

I believe that's what I did the first time I applied. But when I checked just now, the form wouldn't download. I don't think they want to see your utility bill. They'd be more interested in your IC. You might even need to give them photocopy, but I don't remember if I gave them one. Call and ask.

I don't know Pets Buddy at all. I think schnauzers tend to be very affectionate and many are super hyperactive like mine.

Good luck with the licence thingy.

Thank you so much for your help. I've got the licenses. But they are so flimsy. I remember it was metal but now it is only an aluminium piece and many rough edges on the etching.

I think I'll just keep it in my pocket when I take them out. Else they will surely destroy the tag =( Hopefully the obedience class will help.

I only got 2. Other dog is a chichi so not so obviously when I take her out. So I'll leave it for now la.. seldom take all three together, maybe I can swap the tags Wink

I've been training them myself but found it to be quite a handful now. They are ok when at home. but once we are out and they get distracted, I'll be the one howling.. haha

I've registered them for the Purina Obedience class starting this Sunday. Hope to pick up lots of tips Smile

I hear the puppy.com people are very thorough in their obedience classes. Should be good.

DBKL is very easy,just bring your IC and RM10.00,the license is only valid till end of the year, so if you buy now, it may valid till the next new license plate is ready,some times the new one will only be ready on March, The dog licenese is different from our driving license,it does not means you pay on Sept,then will exoire on Sept...hpe u know what I mean
