hi, any suggestion that which vet is better in Selangor, because the vet tht i brought my shih tzu there they seems to b lazy to check out the probs tht occurs to my shih tzu, sometimes he likes to eat his poo but the doc could not give me an answer y does he acted this way.. he told me tht it might caused due to bad digestion of my shih tzu so i ask him to check den he feels reluctant..any good vet recommended?
You have to monitor the dogs behavior and its timing to do big biz. Allow him/her to finish, keep a distance..normally it would turn around to sniff and will move off. If it wants to have it...STOP her there and then and keep him/her by your side..scoop away and tell NO NO or other choice of words. Have to be consistent going about it until it understand. If your shih tzu is still below 6 months, is more on curiosity to toy with its poo but whatever it is...put a stop to it. If your shih tzu a female, high possibility it would go through this stage for about 3 months. Reason when an adult female looking after her pups, she would clean up the area regardless big or small biz..bottomline its going through development stages. Would be good to opt another vet. Good luck.

Hi, just consider this.... are you over feeding your dog?? There is a lightly chance you are so either cut down on quantity or reduce the number of times you feed it.

No, this has got nothing to do with it's digestion. Your Vet is wrong. That's just NONSENSE. People used to believe that dogs eating their own feces had digestion issues or something lacking in their food, but usually there is not any underlying medical problem when a dog eats its own feces. If he's otherwise healthy, happy & getting the all clear from the Vet, then he's probably just your average dog. Dogs are dogs & many of them like to eat sh*t.
Opportunity + boredom. If you don't pick up after the dog as soon as he eliminates, there is opportunity. If he's not exercised enough, he's bored. Put the two together & you will often get poop eating (coprophagia).
The only solution that works 100% of the time to solve this problem is to pick up after him as soon as he eliminates.
Hope I helped.
@ACC - What do you mean???

Are you a owner of 1 dog or 500?
This was posted before you edited earlier version....THE REST BS ( thats what you quoted), regardless of dogs or other 4 legged animals, its' going through development. If none of these pick up any vices in their lives, chances of it live longer are slim for example street dogs. They somehow self develop certain kind of antibody that domestic kind doesn't carry in their system. I would not use the term average dog if it does something not proper. How do you then classify those nursing moms when cleaning up the mess left for her. She be right there waiting even there are helping hands from human...since they adult, ARE they being upgrade from average to very STUPID?
One thing have to agree with you...JUST PICK IT UP...Cheers!

Well, Susan you got at least 3 opinions, do what you think is logical. i have miss out on my reason and that is, if over eating and food is not fully digested then when it comes out it will still have remnants of food smell so the puppy eats it. Look at another way, does your pup sleep on it's own poop if there is enough space in the enclosure?
Medium size breed like beagles (puppy 2mth-5mths old) will just vacuum food down and very little percentage they chew. Outcome heavier stools and at times notice some shapes of the kibbles. After eliminating it would go round either to sniff or the worst that could happen mum mum...there are 2 exhibit would like to point out (both are ready for elimination). No1 One was redirect back to cage....No2 Free to move about but pooo area been destinated. After biz done No1 would want have a go (mum) No2 would just move on. Rational behind this SPACE related. But if a female would be use under exhibit No2....hmmm NO NO would be used and have to pick it up asap coz even she goes off, would then make a U turn (more then 8 females been tested). 8mths onwards this problem would be history (never did starve them to do this kind of test).
Why are you going in this direction? The word "starve", was it ever mentioned? Do not complicate issues by statistic, as it is rule of thumb to keep growing puppies "lean & mean"so not to stress growing joints, in short just do a little monitoring and you will be fine.
currently he is 1 year 2 months, i do not think that he do not had enuf food cause no matter how much i feed he will never feel full.. he is a male shih tzu and one more thing the vet told me tht it is normal for the male dog to have pus in their little brother( genital) there? can anyone explained more?
True, a vet who is reluctant to touch my dog goes immediately on blacklist. Vets should not be afraid or geli of animals. And also a vet who cant or wont differentiate and educate you about your animals health is also not the best. You need to be able to ask and know about your dogs health

The "pus" coming out from the penis area is actually a discharge called SMEGMA, a fluid that is there for the penis to keep lubricated so it can be moved in & out of the sheath. It's just guy stuff. Infection would be dark yellow & with a greenish tint to it. Smegma should never be green. Light yellowish-white is normal.
Seriously, your Vet is hopeless. I have come across Vets who don't even know what a "spay coat" is. There was one who doesn't even know what 'UTI' stands for! If you feel that your veterinarian isn't taking the time to answer your questions in terms you can understand, it's probably time to look for a new vet.

thanx for ur advise golden addict, but the discharge that u had mentioned does it has any smell? but when i help him to wipe he doesn't havs any feeling of pain at all..so i tot it was normal as the vet said..actually i had took him to 2 vets n they said the same thing..by the way did u bring ur pet to Ikano pet safari before for treatment (vet)? if anyone of u did plz give me sum feedback..
Read it, digested it and now more questions to ask so in short, it seems I know less than before. Life as it is is complicated and you just help make it a little worse and before anything else can happen goldenaddict throws in another spanner into the works..... anyone wish to adopt dobermans????
When plp meet plp (not much issues) but when they do sit down would be plp vs plp, anyway thats not my point here, i always have high regards for owners with guard dogs base on their abilities to handle them. Cheers!

Why do you want to go to Ikano? The Clinic there is a branch of Animal Medical Centre in Jln Tun Razak. Unless you want to pay RM50.00 for consultation. This paricular clinic is cater for the rich. What do U want to know about this clinic? The vet in attendance there was Dr. Christopher James from Sarawak. He stays in Subang Jaya not far from my house.
If you are looking for a vet or clinics that are reliable, thorough in examination, with latest technology and advance equipment you could visit The Healing Rooms, Rain Animal Clinic Just started by Christopher James, Lee Vet Clinic, or UPM in Serdang. You won't be far wrong.
Opinion expressed may appear unorthodox & unconventional, sometimes even controversial but facts given are assured of their accuracy.

Susanlow, the discharge is most likely normal as your dog isnt in any pain, and it does not smell, and is not greenish or yellow in color like pus.
But you should change your vet because 1) He is reluctant to touch your dog 2) He is explaining things wrongly to you (the discharge isnt PUS. Pus is not normal and is bad) 3) Isn't explaining things in a way that is easy to understand

No, Knotidoc. 'UTI' stands for Urinary Tract Infection. All Vets should know what it stands for! My female pup had it the other time & I brought her to the Vet & told the doctor that she has UTI & the doctor asked ME what's UTI. Alamak!

Smegma should not have any noticeable odor. And yes, I have brought my pets to Ikano Vet before. That place has all the equipments like X-rays & so on & their services are 'okay'. They do however, overcharge.
I can recommend you one Vet that is near my home. I bring my pets there often & I can tell you that that place care about their patients & their prices are affordable. Dr. Lim is a good doctor & he will gladly explain to you in details on whatever you need to know regarding about your pet's health & their sickness.
