Re: [ai_ney] PUG - SKIN PROBLEMS - PLS ADVISE [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi Ai_ney & acsyen,

Thanks for the info...etc.

I have been to Dr. Edmund. He also confirmed that its some bacterial infection. Ben was also treated for eye inflammation ( aiyo..)- this is quite serious la, cornea got swollen and inflamed, tot he's gonna go blind..luckily not a problem according to Doc.. Anyway he will be on 2 weeks antibiotics, eye cream and ear cream also....my gosh..the bill was really expensive. 2 months and already cost me a few hundred ringgit...if Ben does not get better, i will cry liao!!! petrol increase oredi added burden...heard dog food gonna increase price also. plus medication....

Anyway, will update once Ben gets better.

Will see if Ben is good enough to be at 1U park this Sunday. If you happen to see a pug will yellow spots ( due to iodine lotion ) on his back..u'll know he's Ben.

Oh, I did not manage to get and dog food from pet store..so I just bought One purina ( salmon ) for Ben...never tried this before..but salmon smell very strong. Anyone tried this before? Any comments? ..I tot it smelled like cat food.

Thanks!!

Ben is getting better oredi, very mischevious last nite. Running all over the place and trying to look cute..

Ehh...the banner on this website is for 'Purina One' leh...why you dun recommend? Can pm?..btw this webiste can do pm ar? I dun see any icon for the function....

Ben likes the salmon better than eukanuba...surprisingly..this time I just put 2 pills into the food and he gobbles it down quickly...guess the fish smell is quite strong. Anyway, I am not sure if the nutrition content is better than those in the pet shop coz I got it from Giant.

pugs with long term skin prob is not of a good quality to breed. there's a possibility that all the pups will inherit this.

overall she's healthy. Like cute pug Ben, her skin got few dark patches..vet said it's fungal and bacteria infection but now she is ok. Really control her diet. I am thinking to let her breed or get another puppy .. at least she wun feel lonely when i am working. Quite new abt taking care of a dog. Perhaps if u dun mind to share yr experience of taking care of a pug? We are too attached to each other. Miss her eventhough i am working. Ha ha.Tongue

i don't like pugs. If you can guarantee tht oyur dog will give birth to one pup then it is fine. What will happen to the other pups. do u think u can find good homes for them? there are so many abandoned dogs that need homes you can choose to adopt one. And who knows maybe your pug prefers to be alone or only have want your company. My fren's pug doesn't like other dogs as company.

Re: [purgymum] PUG - SKIN PROBLEMS - PLS ADVISE [In reply to] Can't Post

hi! fungal and bacteria infection is easily treated... but why med for long term?? how long is long term?? which vet do u go to?

some pugs r bigger, some smaller... i hv seen petite pugs weighing ard 6kg and giant pugs that weigh 14kg!! nowadays anyone also wan to breed breed breed their dogs, until the breed standard also become haywire already... n not to mention litters with health problems... sigh...

perhaps u could consider adopting from spca, paws or the many independent rescuers... do u know i adopted sookie from spca? n now i have a black male pug also saved from spca... many pedigrees now are also facing the same fate as mongrels... homeless... give them a chance n do not support breeding n buying...

Hi ainee..same here! pity my pug. We were on the way home suddenly changed our mind to go Putra Heights instead of Puchong. My pug heard of "KAI KAI" and she get excited in the end, vomitted in my car. Frown Oh gosh..and yet she pretended nothin happen and went to back seat. Crazy

V try to feed her some dog snacks..but she is not interested to hav anything. Mayb too tired. We were so worried. By the way ainee, i hav been searching for the dog foods that u recommended to me. Origen. I couldn't find it at any pet shop in Bdr Puteri Puchong. Will try to find other pet shops in Puchong area, if not have to go Sea Park. Quite far away from my place. How abt Pro-plan or nutri edge?

not many pet shops carry orijen... u can try pet safari, ikano... i've seen it there... proplan i wont comment much... nutri edge, im not sure... make a trip to sea park pet supplies la, ur pug can go kai kai again! Wink try either orijen or natural balance, u can get the smaller pack (2 or 2.5kg) first... i see difference in my pug in just 2 weeks after giving the no-grain brands...

Re: [ai_ney] PUG - SKIN PROBLEMS - PLS ADVISE [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi,

I am Chee here from Puchong and i read all about your post about your pug skin allergic.

I have two pugs which is Hugo and MiuMiu. My Hugo got skin allergic after i bought him back 1 month and that time i bring him to st angle clinic few time and one of trhe doctor told me Pug can easy get skin allergic and some cannot be cure, on and off will come back unless to a blood test but this blood test only can done in USA and for asia don't have those lab for this kind of blood test. If send to USA will cost RM800 plus. The st angle clinic doctor said so far he just done for one of their client.

After few time bring Hugo to see doctor than i start to serach what cause my Hugo skin allergic for and i found this site :
ezinearticles.com/?Best-Food-For-Pug-Puppy&id=865355
after i read this than i change my dog food the ingredients without corn, wheat, glutens, dairy or soy to see it is true or not. After two monthsi change the dog food i can see the result my Hugo skin problem (hot spot or pimples) are under control and less until now don't have anymore just one month one time got the pimples but is really small and after two or three day than gone. Other thing is i found Interceptor (heartworm montly pill) are help for his skin sllergic. I give my hugo interceptor because he is skin allergic with heartgard too so i have to give him Interceptor. (Note: Interceptor are expansive than Heartgard).

So far Dog dry food brand i know the ingredients without corn, wheat, glutens, dairy or soy are Eagle Pack Holistic Select, Innova, Orejin, Nutriedge, California Natural and Natural Balance. Here are the link about dog food information : www.dogfoodanalysis.com/dog-food-index-a.html

I hope what i had experience are help all the pug lover here who have pug with skin allergic and u guys have to give sometime to see the result. If u have any question can email me at puglover.my@ or live.com or can call 017 229 5656.
