Well, I have just taken his picture last week, as I have just got him back 2 weeks ago from a breeder, but I haven't develop the photo yet, I will develop it in this few day and scanned it to my computer, I will be more than happy to share my picture here. Smile

hmmmm bite is becoz he/she want to play with u, draw ur attention may be. When ur pup do taht again just say a loud firm NO and when he/she release the bite, praise like crazy, treat too.

sometime run like crazy ? may be u don spend enuf time with the pup, or u crate the pup too long. try to convey the message to the pup taht go into the crate is not the end of the world or playing or freedom time. Walk him out or play some simple fetch game wiht the pup will help to energize a bit and he/she should be ok.

Also labs are tend to me more 'hyper' during young age, if u said ur pup is run like crazy, then u should meet my Bonney. The Super Hyper Monkey Lab. never stop. But now she is muuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuch better with 2 simple reason, some motiviational OB, growing older (she is 20 months now).

Thanks for your advice. I will try this when he bite me again. Hopefully not. Hehe.

I agree with you, perhaps I do not spend enough time with my lab, as most of the time in the afternoon, we are not at home, so we will put him in his crate (the one that is movable, when he pee, he will move to other spot to sleep), we would like to put him out, but he likes to bite things now, I have removed everything, but still he will bite my sofa, so we decided to put him in crate when we are not around. And during night time, we will spend about 2 hours per day, average to let him out of his crate and play around.

He is really very hyper active, as we come to know that it is better to choose a puppy that is active than it is doomed. As active means healthier, hehe, this is perhaps my own thinking again. But now we are a little affraid when he is too active, as one of my friend German shephard is crazy after grown up, because he is in crate for too long time. HAHA, so I m very affraid that this will happen to my lab. Unsure

Hi Kiki,

if u crate the pup too long, u may want to consider getting a kennel board (the one that put in the crate to prevent spayed or east west leg).

If u scare she run aroung and bite this and that get a plan pen and let the pup in there when u r around and attending someting.

But I still don't understand what is a kennel board(is it a board to avoid my lab to slip on slippery floor?) and plan pen( is this some sort of spay to avoid my lab bite things that I don't like him to bite. I am sorry, but I really don't understand this, as this is my first dog and I am quite new to all the terms. Thank you for your advice again. Tongue

Hi,

Kennel board is the plastics board (2ft by 1ft) in blue color (sometime white) that u can buy and put inside the kennel to prevent from the paws pain in general. U can goto any pet shop and tell them about kennel board, am sure they know what is it.

Play Pen also.

curious question! do you guys think that GR actually much more obedient than Labs? Because from what I observe from the retrievers on K9 Day. All the GRs are like quietly sitting next to their owner meanwhile Labs are drooling from staring at their masters eat. No offence! I have a Lab myself.

Good question. However I suppose it is not this way per se. All dogs can be conditioned via training so it would not be very correct to put a branding of that magnitude on GR's or Lab's being more obedient than the other. One thing I can say is that I personally do think that labs have much more playful energy packed into that cylindrical body, I guess this is why makes lab's fans loves this dog so much. Nevertheless nothing cant be controlled by a nice piece of training.

NO WAY. Regardless of whatever breeds, in this care, let be specific, Lab and GR, how obey they are will 100% depend on the up bringing process and the way u train/condition them, the method use and whether or not they get what u r trying to 'convey'. I agree that Labs are generally more 'hyper' than GR. Don't get urself confuse, hyper is NOT disobey.

Use positive way of training or motivational way, do not choke, or kick or slap, this will not make ur dog happy nor clever. You want a happy and obedient dog and you also a happy owner.

The key for training in OB is consistent, fairness and firm, praise/reward accordingly. Don confuse the dog and always set yourself up for success. If you cannot reinforce the behaviour which you wanted then dont do it. In other words, suppose u want to teach a command 'come' make sure u confident to call and enforce the command must be there otherwise dont command (u will get what i mean when u r into it, leave it as it is for now)

Blame not the dog, but the owner.

Thank you so much for your advise. Yesterday i bought kennel board for my leo(my dog name). Tongue

And yesterday i told u that my crate can movable it is actually call "play pen" Crazy

. So shame... i dont know that I am already using is a play pen. Hehe. I use to call it crate Blush

But my leo don't use to sleep on the kennel board yet for now. I will make him use to it.

George is a dudley as well, he is a bit small in size for a male lab, if not mistaken he is already 4 or 6 years in age.

Hi Kiki,

Oh i though u put Leo in the cage/crate, if he is inside the play pen, then u don have to use kennel board. But play pen will not last long, lab grow faster than u think they're. So be prepare, a real mobile crate. cage or any type.

Then u put the kennel board in the crate. As of now, u can have some cloth on the kennel board to 'soften' the surface.

he does not look like that old at all. the way he behaves still gives me the impression that he is just a puppy because he looks so blur and playful. Laugh

I will cosider a real mobile crate or cage for my Leo Cool

. My Leo now is about 10 or 11 weeks, do i need to give him milk? If yes Milk Powder or Milk Tablet? And i still waitting my breeder send me Leo Microchip, if i want to put the microchip for my Leo will my Leo feel painful Unsure
