Re: [supermutts] I'm back! new member on board! [In reply to] Can't Post

Greetings,

I've visited the forum on breeding and there's a lot being discussed there. so i guess i will not ask further questions on that topic. I do respect on everyone's opinion and give them the benifits of doubt. But responsibility and humanity is really really important, be it a breeder or any pet owners.
I wanna clarify something, i've asked my friend's friend, the breeder i mentioned, he doesnt keep 100 dogs.. he was only exaggerating.. hmph!

What you say might be an ideal route for a fresh grad, but it's not easy to apply to work in UVH. For me, i only wish to serve the animals and do my part well, never thought so much of owning a clinic =) that involves investment and a bit of bussiness minded dont you think? =)

Yeap, as long as we are happy in doing what we love, all the time and effort spent will not be seen as a sacrifice. Instead, it's a blessing that we have accomplished something in this life.

most of the vets know each other... i think 99% of the vets in malaysia all come from UPM... its either their senior or junior or same batch....

Yeah, the vet community is actually very small. Everybody knows everybody. HAHA.. but i do know some vet students studying abroad and they come back here for practicals. There actually a lot of room for improvement here in terms of the facilities, the mentality and animal healthcare awareness lo.

Oh, you have a way of coping with them and i'm sure not all of us can do that. Not even me... :P
i'll be contented if only i can have a dog in the future. Not only that, i wish to have different species too, make it like a mini petting zoo..just a wishful thinking

When i was still a kid, my neighbour got a chowchow from her friend, after few months, the dog developed some bad skin disease and the problem keep occuring even it was cured. the vet says it's a genetic disease. My neighbour was so upset because all the bills really burn a hole in her pocket and she was disappointed that her first pet turns out to be a nightmare. The breeder didnt bother and give all sorts of excuses saying her dogs never give her this problem. My neighbour then even thought of breeding the chowchow to earn back the money and i was so against it until she gave up. I do wish that dog owners dont just simply breed their dogs ok? It's not that simple one...

Quote:

"I believe to be a vet, you face the same situation too. Many will say many vets out there are money minded or blame a lot whenever they believe their dogs are mistreated, there are challenges. But i met lots of vet that earn respects from the other too! So no matter what your profession is, do it with integrity and i believe you will be one of the respected one, too. "

you know, last time when i still dont understand a thing about this profession. i did complain bout a vet when he manhandled my rabbits and make them so stress.. I guess it's a consumer behavior, we all do expect to see good results and treatment to our beloved pets from the amount of money we spent. All vets do need to have compassion and not too money minded lo...

Yah, that is why i couldnt stress enough to tell potential dog owners that looking for a puppy, to go visit the breeder and observe, observe & observe. Good if you find one that is the cheapest, but go and see how is the living environment, if looking for a purebreed then request to view the parents, and see whether the dogs there being treated appropriately. If you found the most expensive one, request to visit too! No harm visiting & see is there a difference? And ask the breeder more questions to know why is it so.

Buy a dog within your budget which you feel the breeders do taken a very good care to their dogs. Really no point taking back home a dog like your friend's dog, eventhough might be cheaper, but ends up you folk out more money, and so much problems.

And yah, it is very very true that dog owners shouldnt simply go into breeding. Very often i get people suddenly nudge me at and ask "My dog SEEMS LIKE pregnant, i have no idea at all what to do!" I was like "WHAT?!" But then, this happen too often. I told them first thing to do is go to vet, do ultra-sound to confirm. They ask me how much, i says my vet charge somewhere RM40-RM80. And most will reply "So0O EXPENSIVE?!" Oh gosh... You allow your dog to breed, but RM40-RM80 is expensive? Then i told them do u know complications occurs very frequently during pregnancy, if you have no experience the mom & pups will die? If the mom cant deliver smoothly, do u know who to call? And to do cesarean you need to spend close to 1k? Then, they fainted already.

That is my concern here, we must encourage responsible breeding as well as responsible ownership. Many cases dog owners "accidentally" mated their dogs, that's worst case scenario if he/she has no experience and enough knowledge in dealing with it.

And hey, when you "building up" your mini petting zoo, let me know. I might sponsor you a nail or two.

Yang

actually i started that topic to seek more opinion. not really to create a debate. and it has been sitting there without any reply for a long time.... until a few " real deal " sign in and started to contribute some shocking facts about animal rescue, and they are not BSting behind the pc, they have already proved them selves in this forum.

if you have anything to say or ask, could always post it there :) no harm.

do you know how many fresh grads FOVM churn out each year, that goes into small animal practise?

You are really cool, i have actually read your postings. Great to have another person with kind heart. But remember, at forum, everybody can says anything and claims anything. But all coins have 2 sides, you might hear story from one side, but always doubt what might be the story of another. Nobody is 100% perfect, so my advice is dont go into believing in anybody 100%, eventhough he/she might seems very nice. That's what i can conclude after all the happenings. But now i'm on my own, so i do not want to intervene on other people's issues. So, hold to your principles, always leave a space to retreat, dont trust people 100%, then you should be fine. Smile

One day we can ask stacey come out yamcha 2gether lor.

Yang

Spelling mistake above, correction : benefits lolz

I've read a quarter of the threads, and yeah, i do have something to share.
But the more pressing matter is my studies and finals >_<"

Sometimes, i can really get addicted to forums. there's just too much of infomation here.

hmm, i'm not very sure on how many goes into SAP... but majority of them i guess.
there are approximately 60 fresh grads each year.

Re: [supermutts] I'm back! new member on board! [In reply to] Can't Post

Yo~

The mutt is not a normal mutt, she is Malaysian Ultimate Talented Treasure - MUTT. Her name is Maya, abandoned by previous owner, yet she doesnt know the sadness, found a bone & simply run here & there, lots of Malays get chased away screaming like hell, of corse, some Chinese too! So worrying she might get reported to perbandaran & get caught, me & my gf decided to bring her back.

She is really hyper, I have to bring her out everynight for a walk & run no miss! Else, gone lah my house, my shoes, my shoe rack, my plants; After chew finish my stuffs, chew my friends & my visitors things! everything!! ... Except her own toys. She knows if she destroys it, she cant make the squizzy sound out of the toy anymore, how SMART yet NAUGHTY!

When there is a chance, do visit my Maya, she craze for companions & looking for playmates. She met one doberman that just wouldnt accept another dog, shown aggressive sign but she able to kaotim him! That doberman get his 1st fren after years without one, and that's our PR professional Maya. Proud of her, but do come play with her, she really loves people. Yet, she is a bit jumpy, i donwan to stop her from jumping, else who knows later she has excessive energy & tear down my door pulak?!

That's juz a lil small part of Maya, she has more for me to explore, i suppose?! AND yah, now she learned how to swim! Brought her to waterfall and she was so busybody exploring here & there. When people bringing their dogs back, Maya actually chase all the way up, and lead the dogs back down to the waterfall to play again. I super paiseh when see the owners has to walk all the way down to search for the "lost dogsSS!" Take note she brought back down not only ONE! Few~~~

And, look at her ears. oh!~~~ cuter than mine! OMGosh...

Re: [leecy] I'm back! new member on board! [In reply to] Can't Post

haha... i cant agree with you more.... some dogs especially strays.... u give them all the love and attention.. they will actually give it back to you 10fold... or 20fold.... or ... well you dog lovers out there would know what i mean....

ok.. i know what i'm gonna say might be out of topic abit but still wanna say it here Frown..

i have this colleague in Europe that has a shitzu... they treated the dog with so much love and attention that now when they have a real baby, that small lil dog actually sits and guards the baby when the baby sleeps... especially in the afternoon... and if you are abit too noisy... the shitzu will come and give u a bark or two and just stare at you assif to ask u to shut up or tone down... the baby is sleeping... then when you stop, that cute lil shitzu will go back next to the baby and sit beside it....

besides that, no one... even the owner can be rough with the shitzu... except the baby... sometimes while playing with the shitzu, my colleague tend to be abit rough or accidentally pulled her fur, and the shitzu will actually snap back... but the baby can pull her fur as much as he wants... and the shitzu will juet let it be...

or when my colleague or his wife made the baby cry, or if the baby cries, the shitzu will actually walk up to either one of them, give them a bark or two and hit them with his paw...

thats some of the many things i've notices when i went to my colleagues house...
