So for his birthday what should i buy or prepare for his food, i thought his birthday so must fed him something special, recently he have skin sensitive so he cant have too much protein, any suggestion? I want to buy him birthday present also but what should i buy for him.

Hope to hear suggestion from you all.

Yes yes, dogs could have cake, but NO CHOCOLATE cake for them. Try cheese cake instead. I gave Goofy cheese cake on his birthday.

As for his food. You can give whatever you think he love most, so he can have something he love on his special day.

The food I love to cook for Goofy for his special treat is his macaroni. He love it soo much. I boiled the macaroni, minced chicken, fine chopped carrot. Then after cooked, I'll mixed with one smashed hard boiled egg, and a little of doggie's milk. He sapu everything down in less than 5 minutes.

Just some suggestions.

hi, your dog is cute. As far as I know, dogs cannot digest lactose, so any kind of diary is not good for dog. That include milk, cream and cheese. So I am not too sure if cheesecake is suitable, as it contains cheese and cream. What about a big meaty fresh bones?

Thanks Bejamie,

Clifford is very naughty sometimes, he purposely bite my socks and want me to chase him around the house to get back my socks but he wont bite my sister kids socks when they come back from school.

So have you bought any cake for your dog? Hope you can give me some suggestion. :)

Re: [bejamie] Birthday Cake [In reply to] Can't Post

It's true that lactose intolerant happens in most dog but not all. My dogs can take milk, cheese and any form of diary product extremely well. They dont vomit or have diarrhea but poo poo very very smelly only. Just like humans lor, not all of us can take lactose mah, some of us are severely intolerant to lactose while many are not. Studies in humans have suggested that you can reverse the whole process. You can 'train' ur body to be lactose tolerant as lactose is broken down by an enzyme that is produced by the body in the presence of lactose. So if u have not been taking any form of lactose for the last 10 years or so, I can bet with u, u're lactose intolerant now. But if u start consuming diary product again bit by bit, with time, you'll will not have that bloating stomach again.

Well to be safe, go to the cake shop, custom order a cake lor. Get butter or sponge cake and tell them to cut the amount of sugar down lah. Tell them a little bit of sugar only. I personally prefer a fruit cake....either sponge based or pound cake. Fruits are sweet already mah, so u can literally tell them no sugar in the cake at all. We can eat, they also can eat. Hahahaha no wastage. Wink

I used to soak my dog's kibbles in cold full cream milk. And he loves it! Hahahahah now that i don have a fridge, sometimes i get a small pack of milk for 7-11 and mix it in for them.

As of durians, i think give a bit can lah....my dog also makan durian before. Maybe u can get durian cake for them lor. But better be prepared of their poo and pee and their breath! hahahahaha

As of big meaty fresh bones, hmm i bet they'll love it but i wont give it to my dogs. They have this so called 'jual-mahal' syndrome...so i bet once they've tasted fresh bone, i'm in for deep shit because they'll start to starve themselves for days because they don wan to eat their normal kibbles. So better not try! Crazy

Hi. My lab is having the same birthday month too! He will be 1 year old on 11th. No I have not bought any cakes for Milky. We just came from Australia, they had thousands of snacks and treats for dogs. Milky loves pigs ear, and fresh bones. In Oz dogs loves their bones alot. I feed him daily. I also buy Kong toy and stuck some pigs ear in it so he will try to take it out, or put peanut butter in it so he will try to lick everything inside.. I saw some US sites sell cookies for dogs, but dont think they will send here. Ikano petshop on Sunday have free muffin treat for dogs too. Why not go and get a free treats haha...

Re: [steffy1811] Birthday Cake [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi, thank you for the advise. But as I learnt most of the doggy issue in Australia, I would prefer to feed my dog according to their natural digestive system. I fed my dog cheap ice cream before and he loved it. But when I fed him Magnum he threw up. So I rather not feed him anything dairy anymore.

As with doggy bone, it is recommended as a compulsory food for dogs in Australia. The vitamins and minerals in bones plus some meats is good for the doggy, and it can also clean the dog's teeth. So it is act as a kind of cleaning tool as well. Some Western countries recommend 70% of the food source from bones actually. If you think is expensive, maybe some chicken necks can do... But my dog can eat the whole chicken carcasses in less than 2 minutes... But to be honest, bones are dirt cheap in Australia...

Re: [bejamie] Birthday Cake [In reply to] Can't Post

yeah yeah bones are dirt cheap in western countries. In US also can get the whole femur of a cow for less than 5 bucks. Come in nicely vacummed pack wrap somemore. Got smoke flavor and natural. Some of my friends there every week go buy like 5 or 6 of those bones for their dogs. They feed kibbles also but give them the bone too. One bone can last a husky about 2 days. Depending on how hard-working or bored they are.

It's good lah if u're ok with it as fresh bones can be messy. Wait their ears all wet and smelly, then if the bone is too big, I'm sure my dog will sit down and use his paw to hold the bone down. With nice leg feathering, aiya...let him hold that fresh bone, i don think it's such a good idea. I try to give the best to my dogs too but sometimes the best isnt always what's best for us also. So strike a balance lor....

Ang moh countries can be a little too extreme at times. Like how they tell me I MUST walk him 5 times a day on average of 20-30minutes! wah lauu.......luckily that time just graduate, so got 2 whole months to do that. But the impact it has on the dog, I wont deny it's wonderful. With that amount of exercise, he manage to have extremely good posture and very well developed muscles. But it's taxing lahh.....5 times a day mannn, at least 3 times a day I take him to the little park where ppl play frisbee and into the open football field where he go and chase wild rabbits. The other 2 times, just walk around my apt blocks. i think I also lost weight doing that with him. Unimpressed

Re: [steffy1811] Birthday Cake [In reply to] Can't Post

Haha your story is funny. But luckily in Australia they are not so extreme hehe. We are supposed to walk then twice a day only... and only about 20 minutes each time, good for their mental stimulation too. It does help alot, my dog is not so distructive in the backyard if he had enough mental stimulation... Good also he can socialise with other dogs too. I dont want him to be agrresive. But five times a day, maybe when I am rich enough to stay home daily Sly

With the bones, not so scary like you say la.. Well in Oz I feed fresh bones, as they look quite clean. But here I blanch them with hot water to kill germs. Is not as messy as you think la... If he eat chicken carcasses he doesn't even use hands... Or chicken necks, disappear in seconds. Well he is quite greedy for food.

Steffy has explain true enuf bout the dairy products. I do scared Goofy might can't accept dairy products too. But when I tried to give him milk, he love it so much till now when I take out the milk powder container, he'll turn round and round and round excitedly, knowing he gonna have his favourite milk again.

As for bones, I haven't try to give Goofy any bones. Never tried before. Tongue

hi,

i've a peanut butter cake for my doggie n he absolutely loved it! my sis gave me the contact no. of this girl that does home made doggie treats n cakes, but sorry i think i've misplace the number. i wouldn't agree 100% percent on cheesecake, unless u plan to give yr dog only a tiny slice, then i think it's okay. anyway im still searching for the contact no. if u want, will update u once i found it.

Hai,

U can call Carob Hound Cake -Li Ping at (012) 329 1981. My kids tried her carot cake the other day.Its nice. She specialised in cakes for K9. No sugar, no chocolate and she use organic stuff that is not harmful to dogs.
