Hi Peng Yu,

You are looking for a working line or showline GSD? You must know your purpose of getting a dog, understand the breed and then you can proceed. A lot of people when comes to buy a puppy they just feel that the pup is cute and adorable and then later on they realize that they have bought a wrong breed.

Cheer.

peng yu, i think you are asking for a sable gsd. i am not too sure about sable but we have showline-black and tan and also working black or bi color. you can ask around here just take your time , a good gsd is worth waiting.

hi, actually a gsd with mka cert can cost from 900 to 5k. but that is only local breed not including the imports. and a showline can also be a guard dog some say just as well as the working gsd. well, some might disagree. but i think you are looking for a medium drive guard dog which can be double up as housepet as well. in this case , it will cost you around 2k. if the person is selling at that price, i hope the pup is sick free ,disease free and also no hd problem. but that is only my opinion. will let you know if i hear of anyone having pups soon.

Hi crx,

Have you owned any dogs before? If you do, I will strongly recommend you to go for American Staffordshire Terrier, to me this breed makes perfect family pet and superb guard dog as well.

Re: [Kevin Chuan] looking 4 a german shepherd!!! [In reply to] Can't Post

Actually my purpose of getting a GSD is to b a guard dog & also have good temperament as my parent are old & most of the time i'm not staying with them (i'll b back only on weekend). So i dun think of getting a nice pretty GSD. But if the price of working line GSD is too expensive compare with showline GSD, i have no problem also. As long as its a purebreed GSD.

So that is y i posted this message, really hope i can get more info & help. One more question, i own a male ECS now, its around 9months old. If i get a GSD pup, can these 2dogs get along? And, should i get a male or a female GSD? Planning to get a pair of GSD but would like to start with 1 GSD first. I was thinking to get a female GSD first, is that ok? Hmm...

My plan is next year only get a GSD when my new house is ready... so now have to do some research so that i got no regret & get the correct dog.

Thanks

Hi Brother,

As per my experience if you are getting a puppy, then it is OK to your ECS... male and female does not matter. If you are planning top breed GSD in the future... then that will be an ideal if you get a female one.

cheer...

Hi Friend,

AST is an quite stubborn breed, need more effort to train an AST then a GSD. But the loyalty of an AST... well,... to me is NO 1 compare to other breed...(my personal opinion, sorry if I accidently step on others toe Smile)...

Re: [kid] looking 4 a german shepherd!!! [In reply to] Can't Post

hi, hope i can help answer some questions.first of all, the hip for showline and working is the same. the breeding make a different. if you mate a bad hip carrier for working line to working line, you get hd problem. so you need to find a reliable breeder. as fr showline, it is nicer structured and also nicer color and mostly with large bones outlook. i am more into showline. i always admired working linegsd but the problem is i dont have time to manage a high energy dog. if you have old folks at home then i may suggest you choose a showline. showline make good family pets and do have the drive to guard your house. well, i love gsd so i am biased. i think gsd loyalty and reliablity are the best. they are just like a all in one dog.

My schnauzer is already a very stubborn dog, so I think I'd rather look for a dog that's easily trainable like a golden retriever or a sheltie, if I get myself a second dog. Or maybe a German Sheperd if I'm looking for a guard dog.

Sorry! I may be bias here , but would like to put on record that workingline GSD , High Energy=YES but they can be calm & stable when not in work mode.

BTW I am bringing 2nd workingline GSD (Sable) home this coming weekend ......

hi polluxx,

holly is doing great now but the problem i faced now is her weight. she is getting thinner. ever since i change over to blackwood, she really eat only nessasary and only a little bit. i dont want to change brand and pamper her so i guess this is the `eat if you want` time. hahah. as for working line, because i never own one so i better not go into it.lol. the show in kl, are you going?
