I don't think this is submissive peeing. At five months, the puppy probably still can't control her bladder well and when she gets all excited or nervous, she just loses control over her urethral sphincter. My schnauzer always gets incredibly worked up when there are visitors and till recently, she was still dribbling from her wee wee thingy when she greeted my visitors.

Frownjessicaohh...

i think she din pee-pee fully finish when she was doing her routine pee-pee

maybe u can try to confine her to her peeing area until she fully finish her job.. takes time

Last time my chihuahua is also like that when she was younger. She is very happy and excited when she see me after a long time in her "house".

What I did was: I stand there and look at her and wait for her to cool herself down, then only I let her out of the house. Now, she dont have that prob anymore.

Maybe they are still young thats why will like that.

Hi,

I don't think it's submissive pee. It's excitable urination. You can look up about it on the internet. My dog is almost two years old and he still pees a few drops until there are visitors. All my friend's dogs are like too. Not sure how to stop it though. I just quickly clean it up when they do that. A bit embarassing when visitors see it. Crazy

I'm not sure. My dogs are adult dogs and they still do it. My friend's adult dog also has the same problem.

hi,

i understand how you feel.....mine already 6 months old now but when i brought her to vet the other day, she pee!!!! don know what to do with her...

but i think, perhaps one alternative is that we can ask our friends to visit us regularly..perhaps by this way, they won get over excited when seeing visitors and hopefully will stop peeing...hehehe..but this is my idea only la.....hvnt try yet so not sure it will work...only thing is hard to find fren to ask them always visit us!!! haahahhahahahaWink

happned to zeus as well til he's abt 3mths old then suddenly stopped. they cant control their bladder when they're nervous & excited or in shock. zeus was knocked by a car before, he shat on the spot not much but enuff to stain his white bottom, i checked with the vet cuz of shock or sudden trauma.

the key to curb their excitement to for em to mingle more with other dogs & human, then soon u'l see they rather chew on their own toys than bothering the next door neighbours

good luck

how old is sasha??? watch out for her cuz as she grows older being too protective can cause accident, its ok if she barks the hell outta strangers near ur hse but she can be aggresive towards ur guest. u will need to educate ur guest as well, esp the 1st timers to ur hse, ask em to lower their body posture to level sasha's, sasha will soon see em as not a threat & not be aggresive

she'l grow outta the excitement pee thingy so dont worry Sly

cheers

hi,

the blood test must show that she is negative against heartworm...then can take either annual jab or monthly tablet..but many advises me that tablet better coz a lot of cases whereby the dog dies after the jab (cause the vet jab directly to the blood vein when it is not supposed to)

well..the tablet is for the prevention of heartworm...i will ask for more info when i see the vet...so far oni know bits n pieces niaWink

Hi.I wanna find out abt my dog's problem. Her peeing was okay until her second heat.My dog doesnt juz let the period drop lyke tht.She mus squat down into her peeing position then only the blood will drop. After her second heat, she is always squattin all over the place.Every 5 minutes she'll squat.running halfway, she'll stop n squat.Doesnt matter whether anything comes out or not,but she'll be in her peeing position. Is it a habit or is there something wrong with her bladder?.

hi,

oh...u mean your dog only does that behaviour during her period or after the period is over, she oso keeps on squatting?

actually i'm not good at this because i spayed both my doggies...so no exp of them having period...but i hrd that some dogs even lick their own blood....

if she only keeps on squatting when she is on heat (period time)..then i think is ok....but if she continues like that even after the period....then, i guess u better seek vet's advise...

Re: [jessicaohh] Is it submissive pee??? [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi there! Is Sasha ok with this peeing problem now? My Jessie (toy poodle, 7 months) is also having this problem. Everyday after work, when I put her out of her crate, (doesn't matter whether I open the crate straight away OR i waited until she calmed down), she will still pee on the floor once she out of the crate. sometimes dribbling the pee on the floor!!! yicks! i don't know whether she is excited to see me or Benji, to be honest. Hmm... coz everytime when i open the crate for her, Benji will rush to her to play with her and that's when i saw her squatting a little and awhile later, saw pee on the floor!!! How to put an end to this?
this morning, i thought that maybe Benji's the cause and instead, I myself carry her out from the crate (farrrr from Benji's reach) but she went dripping pee on my legs! Alamak! Frown
She is considered house-broken already as she can do the business almost 99.99% in the right place since months ago. Just this problem..which has been ongoing since i first got her... at first, tot that maybe she can't control her bladder... hmm.. (Out of topic: Does female dog pees more than male? Benji never pee much when he was younger. Now, he only pees like 3 times a day and poo twice. Jessie...pee like every 15 minutes or so but poo about 2-3 times a day)
And yeah, if she sees some visitors, she gets highly excited. She will jump up to them on the couch and pee on their clothings. Yicks! So, usually I will carry her myself and ask my visitors to ignore her first...haha...
silly gal..

Could still be weak bladder control lah.... my puppy also like that. 7 months already, but see how excited he is lah.......if he superly excited, guarantee will pee. If not, then he wont. Whenever he does that, I'll still whack him. Take him to smell his own pee and whack whack whack. Now like getting better as before. Can control better but still ocassional wee wee lah.

Rascal stop doing that by the time he hits 1 year old. So hopefully Gizmo also will stop by that time lah.

my MS is almost 1 year old but still does release pee occasionally. mine's cause he's happy to see his mummy lol only she will cause him to pee. that and when he did something wrong and i come up to him with angry look. asking him to come towards me during that time will cause him to release a little too lol not a big of a deal, just work around it.

what i did

approached my dog on his terms. ask him to sit then lay down. lower chance to pee. then just gently pat his bottom and say firmly NO. he knows, cause his tail will be lowered and he does learn.

as for his mummy, she has him jump around and run around first until he tires down a bit before picking him up. stopped his occasional wee release almost 100%.

accidents do happen and still working on making him stop it. Tongue
