Re: [valerie] Distemper [In reply to] Can't Post

Dear Valerie,

So sorry to reply u so late, I don't go on the net often. A few days maybe fatal to the dog, but don't worry. I just brought my dog to the vet for injection the 1st 3 days consecutively. Keeping her in the house, esp at night, don't want her to get cold. The rest was done by the vet. The main reason she survived was that the medicine was right and good for her. Sometimes it's hard to say, it works for this dog, might not work for another. What did your vet say? My vet gave me support and I think that's very important. At first I had brought my doggie to another vet, but he said she only had 10% chances of suvival, I didn't like his atitude so I didn't want him to treat her. If the vet doesn't have hope, he doesn't have the heart to try the best to save the dog. Hope your doggie can go through this. And just another word, petaling street's pet shops are very dirty, we don't know which animal is sick, and it's too crowded. I don't trust those people.

Dear Val,

I didn't know if there's any side-effort, as she was stolen when she was 7 months old. Hope yours get well soon. If you want, I can give you my vet's no.

Hi Val,

Is it Dr. Ben? He's a very nice guy, yes, he really loves animals ( from what I see). Your poor doggie, you would have to be more careful next time. What I do is, don't let the dog stay in the front garden where there might be sick dogs walk by. Try not to bring him/her out before he/she has finished all three injections.

Hi Kenny,

My goodness, how's your dog?

Well, pls look for Dr Ben, Tel: 79843852, the clinic is in Tmn Desa.

I'm going to another vet for my current dog: Dr. Heshmael in Dataran Sunway. Tel: 61562478. He used to be a vet in UK, I think he's quite experienced, and he's willing to tell you everything that he knows. There are two other lady vets there.

Good luck!

Hi kenny,

How's your dog doing ? I wonder if my reply is rather late.

I've not heard of plasma therapy before. However, it could be a variation of another treatment I know, which is utilising the blood serum. You still need a large breed dog without known immune system disorder, 8-12 months old, full vaccinated. It is to induce the antiviral factor by using a vaccine. If your doctor is willing to try this, please let me know. I have the sources for the vaccine. The only thing lacking is donor dog.

Hope to hear from you.

Re: [Bubbles] Distemper [In reply to] Can't Post

Hello Bubbles!!

I think my pup might be having the symptoms of this distemper! I've brought her to the vet and he did not give me a confirm answer, but he said it looks like it!

Its great to hear that your dog survived this horrible virus! It also gives me some hope! What did you feed your dog during her illness??? Any vits etc to boost her immune system? Anything I can give her?

I'm now letting her eat watever she wanna eats so that she'll gain weight and energy to fight it!!

Please help!

Re: [melanie] Distemper [In reply to] Can't Post

Stray cats do not spread distemper to dogs. They may get it from other dogs or also those poo around the area... Don't let your puppy out of the house, until he/she is strong and big enough.

Not necessarily 100% all distemper patients die. I have been doing alot of reading about it. If it is detected early, and good care is given, your puppy will live - but continuous great care must be given.

My puppy died of distemper. So take my advice, if your puppy has flu and cough, and even lil discharge from the eyes, please don't take it lightly. Immediately go to the vet, a good vet. Too many 'lousy' vets around. I have had my share of bad experience of vets.
