gathering? [In reply to] Can't Post

wondering anybody stay near Taman Tun Dr.Ismail? i used to walk coco at Hutan Rimba,TTDI almost every evening.

it is a a nice place where all are fence up, additionally, good part is no people in the park, because most of them went for another beautiful park beside it.

coco is off leash over there. so i wondered, would you all considered gathering over there? at least all beagles are off leash and can play around?

Hi everyone,

Bodhi is just as bad. Eventhough she pee/poo on newspaper, sometimes she would also play with the newspapers (especially when bored). Lagi kepala sakit Crazy because there'll be pee/poo everywhere !!!!!!

If I'm not mistaken, I think I read somewhere in this forum which explains why dogs play with the newspapers. Although we don't realise it, dogs observe everything we do. In this case, they will observe when we lay the newspaper, wrap up the newspaper, throw the newspaper etc. etc. Just like humans, they will think of their loved ones when they are bored. So, they think of us (at least I would like to believe that Sly!!). When they think of us, they think of the things we do i.e. wrap up the newpapers. So, they start playing with the newspapers because the dog associate the newspapers with their owners !!! See ?

Beagle best food? [In reply to] Can't Post

hound group forum been quiet for some while loh! everybody been so busy??Smile

I come accross many people asking me how is coco's appetite, why why why? is beagle very choosy in food?

my dog food almost finish already, any good suggestion? till now i still don't know why those Alpho, Padegree is so cheap yet those eukanuba so expensive?Crazy some told me 1 cup eukanuba = 3 cup padegree, but don't seem so mah, coz 1 cup eukanuba is really not enough.

most of my "normal" friend normally they use padegree + some human rice + chicken meat. but why those "special" friend normally use branded dog food? (special = those who keep pure breed doggie)

please help!!! need to buy new food in 2 days time!

I don't have a Beagle.... YET! I REALLY want one, I jsut have to convince my mom that they're NOT impossible to train. My Dad already agrees that beagles are great dogs, he had 5 himself in his childhood Shocked but I just have to get my mom to agree. I read a lot about Beagles though, they seem like the BEST dogs EVER! Blush

hi julie!
from new york? wow! very far place. But i think beagle should be quite famous in US, right? not like in Malaysia, I never seen any beagle on road before. Should be rare? Most people here keep golden retrieval or labrador. Smile

I should admit that beagle is a bit too playful. sometimes aggresive (she won bite) when you try to play with her. In another words, she just being too rude, no manners. she likes strangers more than me. should be suitable for children i think.

maybe golden are easier to train then? Hmm, maybe you can have a look at adult dog first (as for me, i never seen a adult beagle before when first i adopt coco). because, they are a bit... look not that kind of smart... Sly maybe i just being touch by her puppy look. hahaha!

hope ur mom would agree to keep one loh!

I don't know how popular Beagles are here, but I suppose it is pretty popular, I mean a lot of my friends think they're adorable. Oh and the Beagle in your icon is so cute! Labradors are very popular here, probably the most popular dog! Beagles are often used for rabbit hunting, but I just want a dog that I can play with and stuff. I don't mind if it likes attention; in fact, I want a dog that likes being cuddled. I read a lot about Beagles, so I know what to feed them (and what NOT to feed them) and about their behavior and stuff. But I might have to wait until Spring (it's winter here) until I can get a Beagle Frown i don't know if I can wait that long, when thinking about a dog in January, March seems a million years away! But oh well, as long as I can get a dog, i'll wait Smile Anything for a best friend, right? And a pet is the best friend you can have Blush.

Hi KBS,

Archie was soo cute Smile. Can't wait to see him again. For a 4-mth-old pup, he was remarkably well behaved...and off leash too! Wow ! So, is Snuffy all clean from the mud now? I'm sure you gave her a good scrubbing when you got home Wink! At first, it must've been quite alarming for you as she ran off into the woods. But when she appeared all muddy, you must'vebeen relieved. Ahhh...beagles...& the things they do! Crazy As I said in another thread...don't know whether to laugh or cry! See you soon.

Hi Snoopydog,

Was really nice to see another beagle at the gathering too. :)

Snuffy has never stop giving me panic everytime I let her off leash..Crazy. When they are amused by any type of scent, that's it! Don't know how to train her go off leash, don't know if that is even possible on beagle?

Hi kbs,

I'm sure it's possible but not easy at all. Otherwise how can those hunting packs go running about and return to their owners at the end of the day ?? I often wonder ???? . Maybe it's easier in farms and huge private estates we see on TV. But in urban PJ, fat chance Unsure! Also, I think it's all in the mind. Those hunting beagles we see on TV probably are so used to it since young and the owners take for granted that they'll return. If they don't they still have about 10-20 more. So, no worries Tongue. But to us, they are our pampered + beloved pooches and our hearts drop the moment we see them dash off into the unknown Shocked.

Hi Snoopydog,

It is nice to know that Archie and Bodhi are now classmate Smile..

I can already foresee a tough road ahead for me to train Archie, as he really doesn't like being leash. I orginally enrolled for puppy class, but I don't know why they put Archie in the basic class. Anyway, I have no complaint as the trainer is apparently very good with beagles.

Hi kbs,

Yeah, I'm really looking forward next week's class Cool. It'll be fun with 3 beagles in the group. From first impression, the trainer sounds good...also very friendly and approachable. That's what I really look for in a trainer because he/she can either demoralise you Frown or motivate you Smile. My last trainer during puppy class was also very good. Actually, I had asked to switch to pre-novice during the registration. After all, puppy class is almost the same as Basic (that's what I understand). But having discussed with my wife, we decided Bodhi may not be ready for pre-novice yet (or rather the human owners are not ready! WinkWink)...simply because Bodhi's just not calm enough. I think we were lucky to pass CGC! So we decided to build a stronger foundation first before moving on...most importantly, let Bodhi enjoy training! You know beagles-lah! Once they don't like it, sorry-lah Crazy!

Re: [dick] Beagle's owners section [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi dick,

Keeping a beagle in a condo may be a bit tricky because Beagles can be quite vocal. Mine barks everytime I scold her or when she's playing by herself, also when visitors come. They can also howl if they are bored...and that can be quite LOUD. If they were human, they would turn out to be very, very talkative Wink. So, unless you have very accomodating neighbours, you have to carefully consider the noise factor. I read somewhere that someone actually "soundproofed" his entire apartment so that his dogs won't disturb his neighbours (not beagles though). If you're still interested, I saw 2 beagle puppies at the petshop in SS2 recently. Check it out if you like. Good luck!

Re: [dick] Beagle's owners section [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi Dick,

When I first got snuffy, I was staying in a condo as well.. She was okay during puppyhood, but it was totally a different story when she grew bigger.. They hate to be alone, everytime I am out to work in the morning, she will howl/bark and make sure her complaint can reach the whole neigbourhood..Crazy

Either being very vocal, as snoopydog mentioned, and they can be very destructive as well when left alone. When she was about a year old, she will bark at anything by the door, whether ppl passing by, neighbour coming back.. Besides the vocal part, to sneak a dog in/out is not fun living in a condo.. I felt like a thief or something, running away from the Polis everytime I bring snuffy out for walk/car ride. I have to make sure nobody is outside/in the lift and run quickly when approached the lower ground.

So, last year I decided to move out from the condo and move to a house instead.. for snuffy..

As for purchasing of beagle pups, why not try to call MKA, they have a list of breeders that has beagle for sale normally and the price are normally cheaper than the pet shop.

Regards,
KBS

Hello kbs,

Wah Shocked, Snuffy & Archie are truly lucky to have you. Moving homes is not easy, and for you to do that for Snuffy is truly admirable Cool. Most people would have given up for another breed instead. I take my hats off to youSmile!!!

hi cowcow,
Have not got a chance to look at Beagle's stomach.. Smile may be all beagles are the same. Nevertheless, this could be due to the food/kibbles.

Smile
