Hi Amanda,

I wanted to sign him up for dog race too but my bf didn't wanted to. He says that Whisky will be tired to join 2 events and we was also kinda abit worry about handling whisky. We was also worry about how the dog race were as we haven't join this competition before. That's why we pick the Best Coat in Show which is much easier to handle Whisky. This trip was his first trip out to see the world. We had a hard time controlling him when we first got there. I remember I saw alot of dogs join the dog race including one JRT. Laugh

Hi dmax

Merdeka's puppies, right! Freeeedom!!! JRTs motto : No leash, no cage pls...let me run free, let me run free!Yippeee!

Groovy is the long-legged type of JRT which we got from a pet shop in SS2 >a couple of months ago. He's extremely friendly & extremely hyper & likes to meet & play with just about any dog. He has fun time playing with Biscuit & Bailey & Whisky too (MKA training padang last Sunday). Whisky's tail couldn't stop wagging....so cute. And yes June, the JRT you mentioned a couple of times that you've seen at the recent MIPE expo was none other than Groovy. We went there to have some fun at the dog race...and guess what, Groovy won 3rd placing lah. Smile

We do not cage Groovy. He has full access to the hse (except the bedrooms...enter only with permission). We are a bit worried now cos when we go travelling, we will have to send him for boarding which means being caged for days.Frown

Hi Munyee,

It was nice knowing you and Groovy too. Whisky was very happy playing with your Groovy. This was Whisky first field trip and he found a buddy already. He was happily playing non stop with Groovy till they got so violent.

Congrat to Groovy on the dog race...

Hope to see you again with Groovy on the next MKA Training.Cool

there is always a 1st time for everyone.

i still remember when i bring kinki to join the dog race event for the 1st time, last year.

she's so nervous and didn't want to move at all. then suddenly her leash went off and she's ran all around the rings. and the ppl there are all laughing at her.Laugh

but this time, kinki got some improvement, she's not nervous at all and able to finish her dog race smoothly. but she doesn't seems to run, instead she seems like doing 'cat walk'

Will sure sign Whisky up for the MIPE dog race. It looks for fun then the Best Coat. We got such a hard time calming him down. He got so excited to see so many ppl and dogs around. I got carry him as he was pulling me around. I ended up with scratch mark on both hands due his sharp nails and excited mode.

Whisky wasn't nervous when he is the competition ring. But he did pee in the ring and I was like a 911 rescuer, going in to the ring to cleanup his mess. Good experience for him and me too. Will sure join in the next coming MIPE.Cool

Hi! Nice pics! Wow, I cannot imagine having another JRT and you have 3, I assume. (Kowtow!)

Anyway, my friend was looking at the JRT pictures and wondered how come they could sit and pose whereas mine just can't sit still for a photoshoot and has to be held down.

All in all, the JRTs are a delightful breed. Smile

Hi peeglet!!!

Welcome to the JRT zone!!! Kekekee... Such a cute little boy you've got there... TongueTongueTongue

Where did you get him from?? TongueTongueTongue Anyway, I'm thinking of getting a 2nd JRT, probably broken haired sometime in the future to accompany my little "monyet".... TongueTongueTongue But that is the dream...

Kekeke.. Somehow, after you've got a JRT, you can't help but to get another JRT... SlySly They are lovable even though they are a little stubborn... Tongue

Re: [munyee] Hello [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi Mun Yee & Groovy,

Welcome to the zone!! TongueTongueTongue Glad to hear that Groovy & Whisky had such a good time at the MIPE. I was really busy for the past few weeks and so, I couldn't even go anywhere... UnsureUnsure

Anyway, it is good to crate/cage train your JRT so that when you have to leave him at a boarding place, he will get used to it. However, remember that the crate/cage should not be used as a punishment... Unimpressed

I would love to let my little JRT run free when we're not in the house but then, we're afraid for her safety and besides, my dogs' parents have trained my dog to sleep in the cage... Tongue

Anyway, hope to meet you one day... Tongue

Hi Aragorn,

You have the same thinking as me. I was also planning to get a 2nd JRT too. I'm also looking for broken haired type. But at the moment, it's kinda hard to locate one. I know this breeder in Kepong that breed JRTs and that's where Whisky came from too. Wait till I'm prepared to have 2nd one, then I'll contact him.

I can't imagine having 2 JRTs. It's gonna be alot of fun with them. Last week, I brought Whisky to jungle trekking organise one of a member here. The trail was quite hard for Whisky, but he still managed to overcome it. We walk thru stream and suddenly Whisky jump in to swim. Whisky ended with mud all over his body. Great fun..Cool

Re: [peeglet] JRT ZONE [In reply to] Can't Post

Hello peeglet,

Yes, it is indeed fun to have 3 JRTs. Not that difficult to manage if you know how to disiplin them. They do enjoy each other companion. The father and son will always play with each other until they run around the house chasing each other. Amuse to see them play. But at times it can be annoying when 3 of them bark together.

Yes, all in all, I think JRT is a happy dog.

Hi all JRT lovers,

If anyone is interested to adopt a cocker spaniel, please refer to the thread that I have posted in the Dog Rescue and Adoption forum. It is sad to see the condition of the cocker while our JRTs are so happy playing with each other.

Re: [junecheah] Hello [In reply to] Can't Post

Sorry for the late reply. The JRT puppy I saw that day was in SS2 shop on the same row with King's burger shop. Cute fellow but very expensive.

About the Bukit Kiara, yes, it is indeed a nice jogging track. I do see some dog owners brought their dogs there though no dogs are allowed. That place is in Taman Tun Dr Ismail. To reach there, you need to pass by the IBM Plaza, Kiara Green House, Trellises Apartment along Jalan Tun Mohd Fuad towards Jalan Abang Haji Openg. Once you turn left into Jalan Abang Haji Openg, you need to turn right at the first road into Jalan 1/70D. Actually that Jalan 1/70D is the back entrance to the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club. Hope you can find the place. We always go there for a walk every weekend. Just to keep a little fit.

Re: [munyee] Hello [In reply to] Can't Post

Not bad since you can manage Groovy without caging him. Wouldn't he bite your furniture? But sometimes it is good to cage him. JRT needs to be trained to follow some routine. That's how our JRTs were brought up.

Long legged JRT. Then Groovy is a Parson Russell Terrier. Sure he can run fast. All my JRTs can run faster than me. I have tried it with them in a 100m dash...lost to them by quite a distance :)

Hi richard,

Yes, we should organise a JRT gathering. Is there anyone who can volunteer to organise? I am quite busy nowadays but if anyone of you here put in some suggestion, maybe we can meet one weekend. Any suggestion?

Yea... Broken-haired JRTs are quite hard to find. Even in Australia, I've seen only JRTs which are smooth coat. Anyway, they look really cute and my Mom likes the broken-haired JRT.. Tongue

Haahaha.... That's great to hear. Am sure that Whisky enjoyed the trail very much. Hmmmm.. I think I should take Snoopy out for a walk too. As for swimming, I'm not too sure. For one thing, she doesn't mind the water.. SlySly

Re: [dmax] [junecheah]JRT gathering [In reply to] Can't Post

To be honest, the biggest obstacle in organising a gathering for JRT owners (and the JRTs of course!!) will be in finding a suitable location/venue. Given that puppy.com organised some events at Bandar Utama's central park, I'm left wondering if that park is "pet friendly". Can anyone verify this? If so, we could have a gathering there on a weekend.

To make matters easier, the gathering could be a "potluck" sort of do...a weekend picnic for JRT owners and their "kids"

Re: [richard912] [junecheah]JRT gathering [In reply to] Can't Post

Yes, it's a problem finding a suitable place. Bandar Utama is busy with traffic and not suitable to off leash our doggies.

What about Kota Kemuning? Quite a nice and quiet place for gathering. Can off leash the doggies for a swim. Not sure whether there is any security guard? Heard the last time they give warnings to owners not to bring dogs there.

What about having the gathering in one of the members' house? Anyone is willing to open his or her house? Don't think all the JRT members will turn up. So, maybe someone stay in a corner lot will do. Just a suggestion.

Unfortunately, we live in an apartment. Anyone else up for this hosting gig? Like I suggested b4, we could do a potluck thingy so there's no real pressure on any particular person.
