evie regarding pom Can't Post

Hello Evie.

It's great to hear that the poms arrived healthy .Try not to disturb them for the first two weeks .Just leave the mother and puppies by themself and give the mother better food ,like cheese, meat and milk .In about 13 days the pups will start to open their eyes.Good luck to you ....

Dear Durainsam,

SmileThanks for your advise. But why can't disturb the puppiesUnsure? In this case how to change clean newspaper for them? Means i can't touch it at all? Oh gosh... i touched them many times already, how?Crazy

I hope i didn't do anything wrong to them. My girl is being a good mother so i am not worry much about her feeding. Now she starts to come out from the box more often then few days back. Is it not a good sign?

The puppies are really growing fast! It is so amaze to see them grow bigger each day. Smile Attached pls find picture of them both.

Hello Evie,

You have got real great puppies, congratulation!!!.Well.....It is ok to change the newspapers.I mean't 'less' disturbances ok.Do not disturb them unless it is inevitable. It is ok to touch the puppies but not too often. The puppies cannot control their own body temperature right now so let the puppies 'warm' them with her body heat.In fact the mother will do all the cleaning job with regards to waste disposal that comes out from the puppies. She will lick at the puppies often to stimulate them and to make them pass motion .About 3 weeks try to smoothen the pups fingernails so as they do not poke at her tummy when milking .Bye now and hope that my advise is of help to you .

Dear Durainsam,

Oh... thanks. Your advise is really helpful. I can't stop touching them when i am at home. But now i will take your advise and stop it and minimize my touch as much as possible. Hopefully i didn't do any harm to them then. Smile

You think they are great? Hahaha... i think they are too fat indeed. I feed my girl very well to praise her for being a good mother and my good girl.

Again i am so thankful for your advise and suggestion.

Hello Evie,

I am new here and i simply does'nt know about those 'threads'LOL.I hope that this time i am doing the correct thing and that i do not get a warning from Mr.Khoo with regards to this 'thread thing'.Well.........Just want to let you know (Evie) that 'fat chubby puppies' are good sign .That means the puppies are getting enough milk. From the pictures i think that your puppies will grow up to be sable colour or orange/sable.Best of luck to you and hope that both the puppies grows up fine and healthy .

Hi Evie,

This is Marcus, I feel that touching the pupies are good, I normally try to touch or carry the puppy to massage it with my palms. I feel that by doing it, you wil let the puppy get use to handling, touching and grooming from young. As long as you wash your hands before touching the pups, it should be fine.

Try to start clipping the puppies nails when they are 1 week old, use the human nail clipper and just clip the tip, they will get use to clipping nails when they older. It will then be very easy to clipnit in the future.

A fat tummy is a good sign, is the mother licking the puppies to help them eliminate waste? If yes it should be all right, If not you will then have to do it yourself.

Hope this helps,

Marcus

Hi Marcus,

I remember you, Linda introduce us once in one of the dog shows in Midvalley. Thanks for your advise. So you mean i actually can touch the puppies? Oh.. i will love to do that! I found one puppy love being touch by human but another not. The one which do not like being touched will struggle like mad. Is that a bad sign then?

Clipping their nails now? But they are so small, what if i cut too deep? Will it hurt them?

Sorry for asking lots of stupid question, i guess i am being too "kan jiong"Tongue.

Thanks for you advise anyway.

Hi Evie,

For the puppy that struggles a lot, just continue to touch it as usual. That puppy will get use to it. It will then be easier to groom the puppy when he/she grows up.

As for cutting nails, It should be done every week. Use a human nail clipper and only clip the edge. if the nail bleeds, you can always use quick stop to stop the bleeding. Some puppies will struggle a lot during nail clipping, just be firm and everything will be alright...

Marcus
