Re: [clangan] MPSJ Compulsory training is off!

Subang Jaya dogs have their day
The Star, 3 Dec 2005

SUBANG JAYA: Pet dogs need not be implanted with microchips nor undergo training courses.

This was decided by the Subang Jaya Municipal Council on Wednesday.

Subang Jaya assemblyman Datuk Lee Hwa Beng said the requirements were scrapped because the state government did not give its approval to the council’s dog licensing by-laws.

“Each municipal council has different regulations for dog licenses.

This is confusing,” Lee said, adding that he had suggested to Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Khir Toyo that all local councils in Selangor adopt a uniform policy on dog ownership licenses. Lee also said that the MoU signed earlier this year between the Malaysian Kennel Association (MKA) and MPSJ no longer applied.

The (MKA) was to conduct canine training courses, certify the dogs and implant the microchips. The (MKA) cannot use the MPSJ logo in its membership application form anymore.”

Lee said the council would fall back on the current regulations for dog license approval and renewal.
