I need urgent advise on Heartworm
|

I have a 2 years plus shih-tzu(Bud). I had a mobile vet visited Bud on the 30 July for his annual booster jap. The Dr advised me to take Bud to another vet (that has a clinic in Damansara Heights) to check if Bud's blood is positive/negative of heartworm after listening to his lungs. I can only do this after 14 days after the jap. I am very concern for Bud as he does have dry coughs every other night (sounded like he is choked & trying to cough out). I am truly concern and can only wait patiently for the 14 days to come by. Any advice from anyone that has similar experiences? According to the DR, with today's advance treatment, heartworm can be cured. Would appreciate feedback if anyone has the answers for the posted questions. 1)What kind of treatment would I be expecting? 2)Would it be a lenghty recovery? 3)If tested positive, would the treatment be costly? Many thanks. elphynbuddy
